Groves threw more punches and landed more punches, i thought DeGale won it by 1 round with my scoring but i can't complain at all about the decision.

Completely fair cards. Also remember that DeGale deserved to have a point taken away for being a filthy **** early.

I decided to put a bet on Groves today to win. Was going to bet Groves by KO, then found it was better odds for Groves on points, so just bet on Groves to win at 11/4.
I thought initially DeGale, but thought this morn that George has better footwork and DeGale seems to plant his feet to throw fast combinations. I thought Groves would box on the outside and decided to bet on George.
I thought if the Anderson and Smith fights hadnt have happend respectively, I would have clearly picked for George. It wasnt a confident bet, but a gut feeling that Groves would box on the outside.

Before the result was announced DeGales trainer said something to DeGale and looked to have told DeGale to keep quiet. It looked like they thought they had confirmation of a win???

I had groves by 2, thought degale was too negative, used dirty tactics and didnt capitalise when he closed groves down, groves stuck to his gameplan even when degale was winning his rounds and well deserved the decision. Will watch again but cant see how degale did enought to win even though it was close

That was my take on it too.

If anything DeGale was too negative early on(not as negative as Groves).
When forcing the fight he dominated.

Physically he looked like he could take it fine. But mentally lets behonest, he needs to balls up big time! That regardless of whether or not you think he won he should have been taking it to Groves much more.

I don't think I mentioned it on this thread (tough to remmeber something) but I think he really needs to get a better strength and conditioning program cause he looked flabby and althoght it looked like he had a gear Groves didn't have. IT didn't look like he could sustain it.

Yep I had Degale a few rounds up by the end. Yes Groves was on the back foot, but his counter punching apart from a few rounds, wasn't that effective and when the 2 exchanged Degale got the better of it. His work was more effective, did more damage. Groves needed to do a lot more to win when fighting predominately on the back foot and I just he didn't. I mean Degale didnt have a high output but neither did Groves and cos Degale was the guy coming forward too, it means Groves had to look really good whilst going backwards. He didn't impress me much and he had to fight the fight of his life, whilst Degale was able to move up a gear when I wanted to. Just didn't do it enough.

If there is a rematch. Degale needs to be just that bit more busier, and put those combinations together like he did in the later rounds.

It was never a robbery, you could have scored it for either guy.

best thing to happen to degale, hopefully he may settle down with all the shite that spills out of his mouth...total embarrasment to listen to class-less and cringeworthy.

no doubting his talent tghough and i hope he gains some perspective after this.
