    **** off.

Groves fought on the back foot so obviously whenever DeGale landed anything he was gonna move away even more making it look like he was hurt more.

George Groves is still young of course but he definitely has toughness. "He's got more balls than brains" said James DeGale. Sorry James.. you don't seem to have either.

    "Ma brain's too cleva.. janamsayin?"

Great win for Groves, made up for him. Still think DeGale will go further though overall.

And I wonder how Mandanda is feeling after his guy just got beat by a bum (the way you were going on Mand, that's how it seemed you thought of him!) like Groves?;)

Groves has balls and fight in him but he's not really tough beyond this level. He was against a poor puncher tonight really and still had dodgy moments. He'd lose to Librado Andrade at the moment for that reason, he's not durable.

You've got to remember he's only 23 though. Of course Andrade would probably take him apart :huh

I actually agree from a world level point of view. I think both have a lot to learn before they're ready to step up. I wouldn't say Groves can't take a punch. DeGales definitely landed the bigger shots, but Groves covered up and showed decent composure when he needed to. He is going to take bigger and more frequent shots a higher level though, so it remains to be seen how he'll deal with that.

Before the fight, most would agree that DeGale was the better prospect, and my opinion hasn't changed on that, however he does need to get his head down get rid of the @rse-lickers. A move to the states might be no harm. Leave the hype and bullsh1t behind.

    ****ing hell man, chill out.

You're talking as if George was the huge favourite and was meant to win it with ease.

Hardly anyone expected him to win and he pulled it off. Enough with the 'he won't cope when he steps up' bollocks.

'Can't take a punch' was harsh I agree. But I definitely place his chin in the suspect category at the moment. DeGale doesn't really punch properly and still he looked like he was getting hurt in there after being dropped heavily by Anderson. Knocked out in the amateurs. There are a lot of signs here that it would be foolish to ignore. This is why I think they've really got to be cautious with him and let him mature physically as well. Maybe you can't put muscles on chins but you CAN get stronger into your mid 20's and he needs that. He was getting handled up close.

Btw, why are so many people suddenly jumping on the bandwagon?

So many silent members either going quiet or now jumping aboard.

DeGale did have the edge in power and strength but his fans need to stop putting Groves down. Even if you thought DeGale won, did you expect Groves to push him so close? The way we were all going on about it Groves had no chance and would get wiped out.

DeGale fought a rubbish fight, when Groves made him come forward and lead he was lost.

Groves showed a lot of things tonight that not many of us thought he was capable of. The guy is steadily improving, he's learning new things and he's still developing his own style.

DeGale with Jim McDonnell in his corner is really just getting by on talent and fitness alone. He needs refining and will deffo come back as long as this doesn't psychologically damage him.

I never call a fighter a bum Kos (a word this forum needs to rid sharpish IMO). I just posted in another thread my thoughts. I didn't see the fight.

I agree i think DeGale will go further i mean Costello kept saying ''Groves shaken'' which is rather worrying if he wants to step up to world class level in next year or two.

I hold my hands up i got it wrong, i went all out with my own trashtalk and flopped badly .

Big respect for Groves not only staying on feet but winning fight.

Good luck to kid, he's done himself proud.

I'm not gonna be too harsh on you this time. Don't quote me again, I have nothing I really want to say to you.

Surprised how effective the Groves game plan was. It wasn't overly complicated yet Degale just couldn't adjust to being the pressure fighter or even cutting the ring off and making Groves fight a bit more. He seemed happy enough to follow him around and not throw anything for a majority of the fight.

No Plan B either the fact he was getting into the fight was more down to Groves not having enough energy to keep the distance consistently. Looked a lot like the Degale in his early fights against a fighter just looking to cover up even then he never looked comfortable leading the fight.

Like everyone is saying he needs a new trainer. The Groves tactics were spot on but they should of been cut off very early in the fight imo. Think it was the 3rd or 4th round were Degale stopped following him and just stood in the middle of the ring but Groves didn't buy it and continued doing what he was doing. That was the only time I thought he was trying to change the game plan.

Well done to Groves and his team though.
