what fight were you watching? clearly won? looked a class above? think you got the names mixed up there.
I had Groves by 1 round, i thought he deserved the win no doubt. DeGale was totally clueless & Jim McDonell proved himself the **** trainer (and massive ****) we all know he is. I honestley beleive team DeGale thought Groves would just come out swining and thats all they trained for.. Ive been saying for weeks that Groves over compencated for DeGale in his preperation. But DeGale totally undercompencated for Groves
It was a fair decision, I had Groves winning by an extra round compared to the refs too. Either guy could have won on the cards with how razor close that fight turned out, so many swing rounds, no sense in complaining about the decision.
You have ***** jealousy. Must have been a big disappointment for you to discover that Degale's is so flaccid.
I had Degale winning the fight, Groves simply didnt do enough overall, had his running shoes on, Degale connected with the better punches, got the better of any exchanges they had and pressed the fight the whole time, especially in the second half of the fight where i could only give Groves round 10, Degale clearly won 9 (had him in trouble) 11 and 12, the only clear Groves rounds in the fight were 2 4 and 10. It said it all for me when Watt and Darke's cards even had it to Degale at the end despite them being clearly pro Groves during it. Should be a rematch imo, while its not a robbery or anything clearly for me the decision didn't fo the right way.
I had it Groves by 1 point, or a draw. The most I could give DeGale was a draw. It was not IMO, 'DeGale won that fight'. He simply did not do enough. From the opening bell he had the mindset that he was better than Groves, and that he could stop him. This changed as the bout went on, but DeGale did not have an answer to Groves bursts, which won him the bout. DeGale landed the harder shots, but they were few and far between. Groves landed, consistently, the cleaner, more effective shots throughout. Great gameplan.
Totally agree, i watched it with my mate who was wanting Groves to win, he was acting baffled that i had Degale winning it clear, but he had his Groves glasses on as do most of ESB. Where as i could only see 3 clear Groves rounds (2, 4, 10) Should be a rematch as the wrong man got the decision tonight for me, although i think no matter what they will have to fight again at somepoint down the line as i feel Degale will be the that goes onto do better overall, as for Groves i see him being stopped at somepoint.
When did he look a class above Groves? When he won 2-3 exchanges? Or when he was outboxed and out - thought for a number of rounds? DeGale was on the front foot, but he was not aggressive, in fact he was rarely aggressive. He stalked Groves without doing much. Watt was claiming DeGale was controlling the tempo, it was Groves who was controlling the tempo, which was why DeGale had to try to change strategies...did you see DeGale change and try to get Groves to start forcing the initutive? Groves did not take the bait. DeGale did more damage with his head and forearm/elbow. He landed the harder shots, but only 2-3 clean/hard shots. The effective punching was coming from Groves. Close fight, but not in DeGales favour. Draw, or Groves by 1.
