In the amatuers it was a close fight where Groves was given a close points decision and De Gale felt he was robbed. He talked a big fight "ko in 4 rounds, i'll cover your wage etc...". Instead he lets the fight be close and narrowly loses yet again. If you really were world class you would either have knocked groves out or completely dominated him. It's called learning from your mistakes. Also James you need to sack Jim Mcdonnell, his tactics in that fight were terrible. Not suprising Frank had to come over to have a word...
Groves deserved to lose. He also spoke of a knockout and narrowly lost on my card. What is this double standard bollocks? Groves barely did anything himself, even in the rounds he supposedly was winning according to the awful commentary team.
The loss is good for the sport though, will teach boxers to give it their all, not leave it to close decisions, also create better telly for us fans
I don't think it is good for the sport. DeGale pressed the action. He landed with the harder shots, he inflicted more damage, and he finished the fight the better of the two. What's good for the sport is the right man getting the verdict, and I don't think that happened the other night. DeGale didn't deserve to lose anymore than Groves deserved to win.
james degale conducted himself both before and after the fight with zero class. he was exposed for what he is, childish and thick as two short planks. lets hope he learns some class and humility from this defeat. well done george, silenced the idiot mouth.
Again, like me and a large portion of spectators, DeGale clearly thought he won the fight in his heart of hearts. Do you really think he'll be silenced if this is the case? Rather, I see him coming out disputing the decision and campaigning for an immediate rematch, which historically has always happened with fights of this nature.
If there's anything I'm saying you hotly dispute, then dispute it, but don't go in a huff because another poster shares a different opinion to your own. Why did you sign up for ESB? To spread anti-DeGale ideas, or to debate and discuss the world of Boxing with other members of the forum? The latter, right? Good.
no, i dont think james degale will be silenced, he will **** and moan and throw the teddy out of his cot, because thats who he is. he has no class, if he'd been knocked out, i really dont think he would accept that, he'd have an excuse for it. he's a bad loser, he will blame the judge's, the referee, jim mcdonnel, anyone but himself, ive seen people like this before. he lost, be a man james and admit it.
You're right, I haven't given Groves enough praise. He certainly proved he was better than I thought, and there's a lot to be said for a fighter who sticks to a gameplan for the whole 12 rounds. He was in deep water down the stretch, and yet he found a way to overcome it and pull out the win. Many congratulations to Groves and his team. I didn't score the fight for him, and I saw enough in the fight to suggest to me that the rematch would be a different story. All of this, "DeGale deserved to lose" nonsense is just that - nonsense. Regardless of what he said prior to the opening bell, you don't score the fighters personalities, you score the rounds, and I felt DeGale won more of them.
Thank f8ck for that, the guy is an arsehole, no class, no talent, no win. Man, you cant beat it ahahahahahah
ahahah you are funny, you entertain me hahaha. What you talk about Willis Take your head outta his arse and see the guy is a big mouth, plain and simple, got found out tonight.
I started watching this fight hoping for a Groves win. At the end I was cheering on DeGale. I thought he deserved the win. A lot of the after fight posts on here seem to concentrate on DeGale being a ****(which he probably is) rather than on the actual fight itself.
I think all those DeGale fans screaming robbery, are conveniently forgetting the ileagal tactics used by DeGale. The headbutting, the forearm. the elbows, the shoulder block, continually holding the back of Grove's head etc. He clearly should have had points deducted so justice was done in my eyes. For what it's worth, I had it 1 round to Groves.
