It dosent take a PPV - to get a British title fight together - Groves and DeGale were earning in the thousands - not in the millions.

After all - who gets paid millions for a British title fight ?

This is not about boxing.

Its just aboust Warren and SKY creaming in the excessive profits.

The only reason it was pay per view - is because Frank Warrens wife wanted a new house or something like that.

Boxing isn't football, what you referred to regarding SS and the EPL could not be done with British Boxing unless someone wanted to do a pointless exercise in losing money.

Have you ever wondered why SKY treat boxing as they do?, why it is not on the BBC, why ITV have ceased the majority of their boxing?

The simple reason is that not enough people give a **** to make all the hassle involved worth it. You cannot invest in British boxing because it is stupid, too many events collapse due to unpredictability with fighters, injuries, with too many fighters being of poor entertainment value..., an investment can be severely damaged with a single punch. if you factor all that together with the fact that boxing is a minority sport it means that often it is touch and go whether it is worth doing these to begin with. SKY simply don't have the market to do what others such as HBO do.

This is why events such as tonight are approached with common sense... the event must cover it's own costs and generate an acceptable level of profit. If it cannot do that they won't go "Hey guys, it's fine... weve lost some money but on the next fight we'll make it back"... on a fighter who not only might not fight on their network, but who might also not even fight again for huge lengthy period of time.

A purse bid was made by Warren.
It was eventually the one that was proceeded with.

In order to generate the sum warren promised at the same time as fulfilling event costs and the purses of the other bouts it was impossible to stage the event on SS because the money SS would pay would not be enough.

The only way to do this would be PPV.

If you want someone to blame, then blame Hayemaker. They began this by putting in a bid based upon the fight being staged on a Haye PPV card. The only way Warren could make an offer of a similar level was to do the same.
