Do you think DeGale regrets acting like such a twat in the build-up now?

His behaviour was nasty and embarrassing I thought.

Do you think he regrets the cockiness and the insults now that he has a '1' in the loss column?

I do wonder if his attitude in the build up had some bearing on the judges? probably not but Groves conveys a much better image for a British Champion than DeGales did

I'm sure he does. When he watches the tape, he'll probably be convinced he won the fight though, and so he may not change his attitude at all.

For his sake, I hope he does. He needs to have a good look at himself in the mirror, at his attitude, his self-perception and his motivation if he wants to turn into a real man, nevermind a good fighter.

Going by his reaction after the fight, though, I'm not holding my breath that he will.

Reminds me more of Audley Harrison every day now - a cheapshot, I know, but it's true.

I've seen many great fighters react in similar fashion after the final bell. Marco Antonio Barrera, Bernard Hopkins, Marvin Hagler, etc. The lad thought he won the fight. It's natural to be bitter.

It's not natural to be bitter to have such a close fight be called against you. I thought it was a draw myself, but DeGale certainly didn't clearly win by any means. Going by what he said he'd do to Groves before the fight, he should have shut the **** up and taken it like a man. But he can't because he ain't a man - just a boy.

And to compare his attitude in and out of the ring to that of the names you mentioned is ridiculous, I hope you realise that. These guys were warriors. DeGale has the attitude of an amateur.

...Err...what? I was comparing the attitudes of said fighters after close fights didn't go there way. Barrera had no cause to complain after his 2000 loss to Morales. It was as close as any fight I care to mention. Is he not a real man because he didn't act graciously in defeat? Likewise, Hagler had no cause to complain after his loss to Leonard. Is he not a real man because he thought he won the fight and said so after the fight? Bernard Hopkins? Countless examples. It's natural. DeGale didn't go ranting and raving, he was clearly upset and didn't conduct an interview. Give him a break.

He's spot on. He's not comparing Degale to them, only saying if they reacted that way, there's no reason a lesser fighter shouldn't.

if he watches the press conference again from the other when he bets his purse with Groves.

then surely, SURELY even he will cringe and maybe say, "yep, i was a total dick"

the way even Frank Warren was like, "well, they can bet their purse if they want, its their money"

even he added to Degales arseholeness

id like to think he's man enough to see the errors in his ways, but the fact of the matter reamins that he believs he's the new Chris Eubank, but Eubank was tough as nails, as well as being a complete knobend!!

If Groves had approached DeGale and attempted to shake his hand, I'd understand where you were coming from, but both stayed out of the way eachother from what I saw. There's nothing wrong with that. DeGale didn't start shouting, ranting and raving, he just looked distraught and didn't conduct an interview. He was having his eye stitched instead. I don't see what the big deal is. He's a young lad, he just lost his first professional outting against a bitter rival. As I say, plenty of fighters held in the highest possible regard on this forum reacted in similar fashion when they lost close, debatable decisions.
