Surely Hopkins surpassed his great rival the other night?

Always preferred to watch Roy to BHop. But Hopkins is amazing to still be doing the job so efficiently at his age. Props where they are warranted.

It is better. Ruiz was a toothless turd, and Jones boxed on the move to a decision. I don't see that as a landmark achievement, especially when you consider that a fat bloated past-prime James Toney whipped Ruiz as well.

It's called careful match making, hopkins said it himself, at his age he has to pick fights very carefully.

Arguably, yes. "Surely", no. I rate Ezzard over Archie, for instance. It's still thoroughly debatable, imo.

Best post of the thread so far. As soon as Hopkins, A GUY IN HIS 40's!, starts showing vulnerabilities people want to say , "Oh he's faking" and forget actually how old he is. I'd like to see most on here compete at a high level at an advancing age and not show that they have vulnerabilities that all humans have. I thought he past Jones with his win over Pavlik but last night just proves that you have to have Hopkins over Jones even more.

For the record, cherrypicking Ruiz instead of fighting Lewis and fighting in your home country<<<Beating a much younger fighter who beat another young fighter in Dawson(not the shot Holyfield that Ruiz fought) to be one of the best at their division and beating him at his own war in his own country

The ref in Ruiz-Jones made sure Ruiz couldn't fight his fight whereas the ref in Hopkins-Pascal 2 could've counted a few kd's and didn't warn Pascal of excessive clinching and rabbitpunching. Hopkins had to conqueor more feats than Jones did against Ruiz and did. If he goes on to beat Dawson he will be the oldest fighter to defend his crown, props Hopkins for even trying and for last night but after Dawson please retire.
