That was a brutal KO. Worse than Ali and Leonard towards the end of their careers. He needs to be forced into retirement.
Some one in authority should step in when something like this happens if they allow Roy to fight again it will be a blight on our great Sport and only a matter of time that someone gets badly hurt or Worse.!!!
Was that his wife crying in the ring? If he cant leave the game now for himself, hopefully he can muster up enough courage to do it for his family.
u people r kidding yourselves ffs. he has 2 ko losses in 7 odd years and u think he should be forced to retire. give me a break!!!!!!!!!!! yes he is damaging his legacy but thats it. there r guys with dozens of ko losses and they keep fighting. roy was somewhat in the fight until he was ko'ed. he was going to lose on points by the sounds of it, but it wasn't like he lost every round and was bashed senseless every round. if it were to continue fight after fight then yeah FORCE him to retire, but let him fight on if he wants to.
Not good. If I had not read the posts before seeing that I would have thought it was even worse. But getting KO'ed RJJ or Mundine style is better than taking many shots over a period of time. In UFC there are many one strike KO's which looks brutal but MMA is not as dangerous as boxing.
It's high time Roy hung them up. He shouldn't need to be KOed again and again to make him realise that he can't do what he once could any more.
its not that they keep fighting, its that they keep fighting top or world class competition thats the worry.
don't really care about him, if he is dumb enough to continue then he desreves all he gets! plus with all his hangers on that are only there for his money, obv they aren't gonna tell him to retire. he's a big boy that may get very very hurt soon but it will be his own doing.
Anyone who knows anything knows that Roy had been finished at the top level for 6 or 7 years now. If Roy needs the cash then he needs to swallow his pride and get himself to the weekend markets in Pensacola to flog off some signed gloves like Riddick Bowe. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/14/sports/14bowe.html
Come on man, he's been badly KO'd 4 times in the last 7 years. The Tarver and Johnson KOs were sickening, as was the Lebedev one. The fact that he was standing upright but out cold on his feet lends credence to the ref stopping the Green fight, as RJJ was just standing there looking stunned with his gloves held limply up. Calzaghe carried him for the second half of their fight, out of respect - if Calzaghe still had heavy hands when they fought, he would have been KOd a 5th time. RJJ's showing signs of damage from his time in the ring - the guy needs to wake up and get out while he's still got some of his faculties intact, lest he ends up like his mate McClellan :-(
