    My own response is:

    Pacquiao
    Hopkins
    Jones Jr
    Mayweather Jr

But #2 and #3 are pretty interchangeable, whereas #1 and #4 are definite IMO.

The way this is worded implies that Whitaker was the best and now who is the best since. Whitaker was nowhere near the fighter Pacquiao is.
Whirtaker, while a great fighter is a bit over-rated. Pacquiao (pound for pound) is a more dynamic, harder punching, interesting and talented fighter than Whitaker was.

I wanted to say Mayweather but his own lack of fights and ambition over the last few years forced me to say Pacman.

But skillwise Mayweather is in a class of his own.

For me, based on achievements it goes:

    1. Pac
    2. Hop
    3. May
    4. Roy

    Based on skill and talent:

    1. May
    2. Pac
    3. Roy
    4. Hop

After having time to think about it more, I'm with the majority:

    Pacquiao
    Hopkins
    Jones
    Mayweather

Not only the greatest fighter since Whitaker but Pacquiao is also the greatest southpaw since Whitaker. Mayweather didn't do enough to be over any of the three.

Hopkins' MW dominance(beating a prime Trinidad, 20 defenses), moving up to beat Tarver without any questions or losses to him afterwards, beating an undefeated Pavlik, beating an undefeated at that weight Pascal, and fighting much more consistently at an advancing age puts Hopkins over Roy.

Roy is the best talent since SRL(NOT as accomplished and no he does not pass the two over him in Bernard and Manny) and with his reign at LHW(beating a great but past prime Hill and beating Griffin in a very devastating rematch, beating future champ in Woods, beating undefeated Gonzalez who beat Dariusz), achievement in moving up all the way from MW to HW to gain a worthy belt, beating an undefeated, prime Toney who was seen as the biggest threat at the time though won in a one-sided fashion, and also being the first to ko Malinga who was a good fighter but also RJJ is the only man to ko him when he wasn't very faded has RJJ comfortably over Floyd.

Floyd is one of only two people to beat G. Hernandez at SFW then had a small reign there(also beat Corrales who was a zombie but still a puncher and undefeated), moved up to LW to beat the underrated Castillo on paper then rightfully beat him in a rematch given on the same year(not the long wait Pacquiao gave JMM), Whipped Gatti to gain a worthy belt at JWW in an unexpected beating though many had Mayweather the favorite as he should've been, beat a good Zab for a good belt and a meh Baldomir for another good belt with both fights at WW, Moved up to 154 to beat a DLH coming off a win for a good belt, moved back to WW to beat Hatton who's best division was JWW though he was still very good and undefeated then beat Mosley who was seen as a threat that was coming off a win not a loss and a draw and had a belt. Great record but he lacks another big win(Pacquiao but beating him is not a given) and possibly other very good wins(Cotto who was undefeated and Marg at WW).

Pacquiao beat a very good Sasakul for the Flyweight belt, beat a good Ledwaba for a good belt at SBW then reigned there for a good time, beat Barrera who was highly rated at the time while Pacquiao was the underdog, Twice avenges his loss to Morales a faded but still very good fighter while reigning at SFW, Avenged his draw to JMM on paper though most had JMM winning though the first fight could've went either way, Moved up to annihilate Diaz to gain a good LW belt(most if not all considered Diaz-Morales a robbery so that has to be taken into consideration), beat a faded, drained DLH BUT was seen as a huge underdog and shocked the world, moved to 140 for the first time to beat Hatton who was still seen as the man there as he never loss at JWW until Manny ko'd him without the use of a ringpost, beat Cotto for a good belt without leaving the controversy that Margarito did and still has the WBO belt, beat Marg at a higher weight for another belt and moved back to WW to defend his WBO belt against a very faded Shane who still seen as a top WW and Clottey who was a good WW(Cotto and Margarito being two guys FLoyd refused to face). Pacquiao became PFP #1 in '08 and to this day still is so it has been about 3 years since he's stayed at that position.

Pacquiao is clearly the greatest boxer of this time no question. When you actually look back at what he's done you'd be surprised at how much he has accomplished. We truly have been spoiled by him and while he was a SFW in '07 if you said he would go on to beat Mosley, DLH, Cotto, Hatton, Margarito, and Clottey you would've been sent to a mental hospital.

    Typical ******* logic.

funny how you mention he beat an undefeated pavlik yet you make the point on mayweather paragraph that he fought an undefeated hatton at his wrong weight.:nut

So where did hopkins fight pavlik?
