Incorrect. Sanders avoided Wlad by reliquishing the WBO belt and being ranked #2 contender at the WBC with an immediate title shot.

That way Sanders got a big payday in the US without being bound to the options contract of Wlad's promoter (Universum).

I take it that you weren't watching boxing much at the time?

Wlad went to the WBO and asked for an immediate rematch (it wasn't in the contract)... The WBO denied him of an immediate rematch. Wlad then had to defeat a top 15 ranked opponent by the WBO in order to gain mandatory status against Sanders. Wlad fought Moli (who was ranked in the top 15... won... and waited on Sanders. Then, after a rematch with
Puritty fell through, Wlad also went on to fight Nicholson as he awaited his rematch with Sanders. Meanwhile, Sanders refused to defend his title... not only against Wlad... but against ANYONE. Then, Sanders was ordered to defend against Lamon Brewster, with the winner being mandated to fight Wladimir Klitschko next. Sanders then decided to vacate his WBO title to avoid having to fight Brewster and Wlad. He then went on to fight against Vitali Klitschko for the WBC title instead. Leading up to that fight, Sanders did a video interview with maxboxing in which he admitted that Wladimir Klitschko had been pushing him hard for a rematch, but that he wasn't willing to give him one. He said that he would only give Wlad a rematch if he (Sanders) beat Vitali first. We all know what happened after that.

How on earth can Wlad be blamed for that? Sanders clearly knew that lightning wasn't going to strike twice and he decided to cash in on his win over Wlad with a showdown against Vitali who was at an all time high in popularity at the time after his fight with Lennox Lewis and destruction of Kirk Johnson.

Wlad can't force people to get into the ring with him. He did everything that he could.

Valuev was offered 2.5 M the first time and 1.5 the seconed time when Valuev no longer had the belt. Valuev and Don King did not want that fight. Its not ducking if the opposing fighter will not fight you.

    Peace

Wladimir ducked Brewster in 2005. He beat Peter and could either rematch Byrd or Brewster for their titles. He chose the feather-fisted one for obious reasons and waited for Brewster to be shot and partially blind to get it on with a rematch.

And Vitali ducked Rahman three bilion times. Hasim even served him chicken on a press conference, remember?

Vitali offered Valuev a career high payday even though Valuev didn't have the WBA belt anymore. :deal
