"I wasn't sure what he was going to do," "He said he was going to come out and knock me out in four rounds. But from the first bell he started to move around the ring and I thought, 'oh, here we go'."

"I was a little bit surprised he fought on the back foot, I thought he was going to come to fight," "I said to him at one point, 'come on, fight me, fight me'. He nicked the fight - if he's proud of that, then let him be."

havent got more atm. just got these bits off info off a bbc blog

You missed out the best bit. "Degale, who looked close to tears."

Er, no James, YOU said, at least 100 times, that you'd knocked Groves out within four. Groves said he doesn't care whether it comes by decision or a knockout. Towards the end of the build-up, he said it a couple of times, just to amp it up.

    Will honestly never like DeGale.

I really thought Degale unravelled mentally as Groves told us he would.

Degale is undoubtedly the more talented boxer. When he let his punches go, he was winning the exchanges and made Groves look uncomfortable. Groves did a great job of moving and countering but Degale just didn't force it enough. He simply had to throw more shots and throw them in bunches. I think he got exposed in a very big way. He didn't have the mentality to put it all on the line and go for Groves.

When they both got cut, Degale was dabbing away at his cut and letting it affect him. Groves simply fought though the mask of blood on his face as if it wasn't there.

I think Groves just wanted it more. He wanted it more when they were amatuers and he wanted it more in the pros.

I think Degale has to change trainers and move stateside. He is supremely talented. But when things aren't going his way, I doubt his resolve.

The crowd got to him imo. Its one thing going to Liverpool and fighting a home fighter and getting booed. It's another thing to fight at home and have your own people boo you.

Groves won the fight and won the event.

Personally I'm not sure if Degale has the mental strength to recover.

That's it James. Blame the guy who beat you. It's all his fault for not fighting like you wanted him to. What a knob.

All talk. Couldn't back it up.

Why would Groves do that, to help you bridge the gap, because you technically, dont have the ability to create your openings, or know how to cut the ring off adequately?

De Gale NEEDED Groves to engage him.

I like how he says Groves is proud of nicking the fight as if he didn't start celebrating himself when he thought he'd won it at "And still undefeated.."

what a prize tit he is...looks like maybe he won't learn his lessons. just blame everyone else rather than looking deep inside himself. he has so much talent but his ego may just consume him.

If he knuckles down and learns his lesson I think he will be fine as he has very good potential talent. A telling sign though for me was that he never gave an interview to Sky immediately after. Even Khan who got demolished within a minute by unknown Prescott gave an interview.

Degale said he's prepared for any version of Groves, and that'll he'll beat him either way because he's better. He said if Groves comes to fight it'll end in four, if he runs, it'll end later. Obviously Degale was wrong.

Correct, he actually showed himself to be one dimensional

I was shocked that he was so bamboozled by groves simply refusing to lead

Jim McDonald prepared him for that fight like Bernard Matthews used to prepare turkeys for xmas.

When DeGale turned pro many on this forum questioned his choice of trainer and last night proved the point.
