Frankie Randall to me is an overlooked fighter. He beat Sammy Fuentes. Drew against Freddie Pendleton. Beat JC Chavez once and lost a close second fight against JC Superstar. He declined fast in the late 90's, but for awhile there, he was as tough as they came.

At his prime, how would he do today at 140? And for arguments sake, how would he do against Manny?

Randall was great for about 4 years, his knock down of Chavez was beautiful. He had a good run with some notable wins. Manny would be too much for him though, probably kayo him late or lopsided points win. I don't think Randall could really find him.

Randall had drug problems and management problems. He had the talent to be much better than he was. I think his boxing style and straight righthand would give Manny all kinds of problems, but Manny's power would give him problems too.

    Not true.

Randall was a national known commodity as an amateur and had a long and prosperous stellar amateur background. He got off to a nice start as a pro but was not handled by one of the big promoters and an early ko loss really set him back. But the guy could always box and hardly appeared on the screen out of nowhere w/o anyone knowing who he was.

True, but he didn't achieve greatness until Chavez. That was the fight that made his career. If that fight never happened then we wouldn't even be mentioning him. But in any event he wouldn't get past Manny.

First time i saw Randall was when he was stilll a prospect and fought a prime and already well known Rosario.. IT was a really close fight and i really thought Randall would grab a title and hit the big time soon... Well i guess things didnt turn out to good in his personal life and i guess that affected his boxing careeer as he seemed to fly off the radar for a while.. When he took the Chavez fight, people were talking as if Randall was some can, i remember me and my dad telling people dont sleep on this guy he is a live underdog.. Especially since rumors were going around about Chavez partying like a rock star.... Well although i didnt exactly predict the upset, everyone was telling me wow you were right where did this guy come from hes not exactly some young kid?

Too bad it took so long but better late than never.... For those few years he would have either gave any one all they wanted or pulled some upsets over ne who ever any one who ever fought at 140. That includes Manny, not saying he would win but would be a live dog, and had the counterpunching ability to give him trouble, and enough power to ko,hurt or keep anyone honest.. and dont pay too much attention to his ko losses... He had a damn good chin and the times he was put down they were by monster punchers Rosario... Or tagged with perfect shots by very good ones (see Primo Ramos highlight).. He handled Chavez( who was not prime but still elite)punches well.

I am not sure. The reason he beat Chavez was his speed and right hand, which was quick. It was not a fluke that he beat Julio.

Randall was a 15-1 underdog in that first Chavez bout.
