If he does sack Mcdonell, then it will be Mcdonnell's own fault, now that sounds like an obvious thing to say, but what I mean is, if Mcdonnell would of been telling him what he's not so good at, what he should be looking to improve on, instead of massaging his ego, maybe De Gale would be a BETTER fighter now, maybe he would of eradicated some of his flaws, and maybe Jim Mcdonell keeps his job cause Groves isn't capable of exploiting the flaws that were there before?

Mcdonnell thinks he's putting credit in the bank with De Gale, by trying to be his best mate, what he should be doing, is giving him some tough love, cause when push comes to shove, De Gale's decision whether to sack him, aint gonna come down to how well they get on, how much he enjoys Jim's cheerleading.

    Jim Mcdonell promoted complacency.

I mean what kind of trainer would of told De Gale some of things Mcdonell was telling him him, putting down his opponent like he was some bum off the street De Gale was gonna run out the ring?

Well McDonnell did say we won't see another fighter like DeGale for 20 years. I hope not anyway.

it was funny i think 3rd or 4th FW went running to DeGale and barged MCdonnel out of the way and told him to throw more punches -uppercut
You know when FW goes upto his boxer inbetween rounds he knows his fighter is struggling and the trainer is not up to it.

get on the phone to Billy Nelson, he won't stand for any of that cheerleading or massaging ego's.

He will get DeGale on the right track again and won't take any shite from him either.

    Nice Avatar :good

I doubt James will go to Billy though sadly. Good idea but i don't see him wanting to go to them humble surroundings. He will take easier route and go to U.S if he wants out of London.

Perhaps they would have preferred for it not to be so close. The intention was clearly to nick the rounds though and keep the scorecard ticking over in his favour. It's risky though, and maybe Haye is on friendlier terms with the judges than Warren. Who knows?
