Chad won a very lacklustre bout last night that inspired little confidence in those who would rank him as elite. This wasn't the Chad who outboxed Tomas Adamek. WHat happened ?

Did Glencoffe ruin him somehow ? (IMO, this was another in a long line of unlucky decisions to go against the road warrior).

Has he lost the urge ?

Is Chad past it or is he just going through a slump ?

What does the future hold for Dawson ?

Pretty sad if so. He has so much potential, just missing the urgency.

He didn't show the intensity that we are used to seeing from Dawson but to be fair he clearly has some ring rust and at this time I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt.

By the way is it me or did Dawson in a few rounds look like a Southpaw Lennox Lewis?

No I don't think he's past it, he's just a deliberate fighter, much the way Hopkins was, Mayweather was, and many who came before him. He's so skilled that he doesn't have to do the things that other guys would have to do, to win fights. He never seems to go "all out", he never seems to have the visual intensity that some would desire, and it always feels like he could have done more. To me that's more a testiment to his upside moreso than an indictment. He dominated Diconau, but he probably could have let his hands go more, he could have been as impressive as he wanted to be, but he settled for being what he was and I think that's why Dawson leaves a bad taste in the mouths of many people.

Hopkins is a smart *******, he waited for another foe to get past his prime.

He looks like someone who is in trouble and just seems to wait for something to happen and get rid of his troubles. If he has the same look he did against Pascal and Diacanou, he will lose to Hopkins.
People call him glass jawed and there is no basis to it. They should be ripping on his mental strength.

I just don't see it that way. He's deliberate, yes...but he's often half asleep. He fights lazy and lacks consistent focus. And he's miles from Hopkins or Mayweather were when they were younger. He's really not THAT skilled at all. He's pretty basic skill-wise from what I've seen, although he has nice athleticism and speed.

Dawson routed Johnson in the second fight. What unlucky decision?
Dawson is an incomplete fighter. It may be mental, but something is keeping him from dominating, which, judging by his skills and physical gifts, he should be doing. Diaconu is a game fighter, but he should have been beat down last night. And he wasn't.

I think he's talking about the first fight.

Maybe Dawson should bring back Floyd Mayweather. People can hate on Mayweather all they want. But you got to admit that Dawson looked his best when Floyd Sr. was in his corner.
