DeGale is more talented than Groves, hes stronger than Groves, and in my opinion nicked the fight.

BUT, he is a novice at the pro game, didnt cut off the ring well, and even once Groves slowed and DeGale got more opportunity to impose his strength on him, elected to potshot like he would have done as an amateur.
When things arent going well, and you lack experience of having seen it all before and THUS knowing what to do, you need your team to give you specific instructions, he got nothing.
His corner work was terrible from the get go, advice was nothing but over enthusiastic cheerleading, or "you gotta win this round?". I was thinking "Im sure he ****ing knows that Jim, but hes confused, doesnt know what to do, this is where you earn your money"!

Then compare that to Groves, who knows IMO that DeGale is better than him, but he also knows he has a coach who knows how to beat DeGale, he's been sparring for weeks with a fighter better than DeGale in preperation for this.
From the opening bell Grives boxed to instruction(DEGale couldnt, he didnt get any!!), and at the end of every round was giving specific instruction is a cool, calm and collected manner.
When he got cut, it was well dealt with. DeGales wasnt.

This was where the fight was won and lost IMO.
DeGale needs a proper trainer, either leave Britain for the US, or get with Jimmy Tibbs.

Amazing how DeGale keeps referring to himself as "The Champion" and Groves as "The Challenger"....

They both went into the fight defending titles and it can be argued that Groves Commonwealth title held more prestige.....

Anyway, no argument now is there Mr Arrogant, better buy some braces:yep

What I don't get is the opinion that DeGale is still the better boxer than George Groves. It was proven Saturday night that George Groves can outbox James DeGale. I don't know what further proof is needed?

DeGale is flat footed and just plods forward with that smug look on his face then slaps his right hand out a few times. Even up close, DeGale was only getting the better of Groves with his head and elbows.

This is puzzling me. Most of Saturday's fight looked like Degale trying to walk Groves down, the only chance he seemed to have was landing a big left hook when Groves was swinging wildly. Groves is faster, better reflexes, not as filled out as Degale but he is two years younger and we'll see what happens when Groves is a mature man.

Deep down, i think DeGale has more potential than Groves, but DeGale need's a new trainer and corner i think that was proven on Saturday night

Moaning about Booth calling him a wanker

The way he acted in the build up to this fight made being called a wanker pretty complimentary of Booth to be honest.

Obviously I've never met him so can't really say too much but some of the **** he came out with was out of order, and jumping up and down ''I'll do a bet, I'll do one too'' was embarrassing.

Maybe he just got caught up in the limelight, I don't know.

I noticed that too, so was surprised when Groves got given it as it clearly looked like whoever texted McDonnel had told him they'd got the nod. That's a great practical joke whoever that was! Looked like Deglae was close to tears after the decision came. If the whole thing means he knuckles down with less of the rubbish talk it may be a good thing, although its difficult to know how having his ego dented like that will affect him. On the other hand, it seems Groves has the temperament to be able deal with defeat if it had gone against him.
