This gets whitewashed, so much, by fans, but it's got to be discussed seriously.

Oscar was 147 pounds in ring that night.

    To put this in context:

Manny was 146 in ring, against Marquez, at Super Feather.

Ricky Hatton was 157 in ring, against Kosta Tszyu.

Juan Marquez was 146 in ring, in his last lightweight fight.

Castillo was 148 in ring, when he fought Mayweather.

What actually happened with this bout? Did Roach basically say the fight was only happening if Oscar fought as a lightweight?

If you look at it by numbers, Manny fought at pretty much the same weight he boxed Marquez. They just asked Oscar (I presume) to match it.

Weight had nothing to do with it.

Roach trained DLH for the PBF fight and saw that DLH was getting owned in sparring to Ivan friggin Calderon. DLH still managed to win a couple of rounds to Mayweather but Roach knew that his fighter Pacquiao would destroy him.

    The End

    That's pretty stupid.

Oscar was a legit 154 world champ when he faced Mayweather. And was also 169 pounds in ring that night. Sergio Martinez size.

He wasn't even ranked when he faced Pacquiao, and was 147 in ring. Juan Marquez size

You know, first we have to see Manny agree to face someone at the full 154, before we start debating how he'd have done against the 2007 Oscar

Yes some lightweight champ who barely cracks 500k PPV buys was telling the PPV champ of all time to drop that weight.

    Yes that makes perfect sense.

Are you just going with the fight night weight now because it is convenient or you really hate Pac that much?

It's just not true. And if you think it is, you didn't watch much boxing around that time.

Oscar's warm up fight with Steve Forbes at 150 - he missed the weight completely, and looked pretty hopeless even then.

He would have lost to a lot of people at that time. Take your pick

I'm going on fight night weight as it's freaking important. About as important as it gets in boxing.

Oscar was desperate for a big name opponent at that time.

Why on earth would Oscar, willingly box Pacquiao weighing less than he did when he fought Genaro Herandez?

    You know, seriously.

Oscar at 147, boxes at 165+ if he has the choice. Everyone knows it.

He's NOTORIOUS for going in super heavy

Roach must have made him agree not to.

It was bizzare how he didnt put any post weigh in weight on having lost so much. He must not have been well at all.

Yeah. Roach must've coerced ODLH, the PPV king, cash cow and megastar of boxing to bow down to his demands.
ODLH must've been fame and money hungry and he needed Pac so bad that he had no choice but to bow down to Roach' demands.

    Perfectly sensible logic.
