im one of the last to shout "RACISM" but i think that may have been an element in the massive support for Groves (who being very white and having the moniker "St." only added to thing). Not to detract from the amount of people supporting him due to the way he conducted himself, degales cocky attitude and his own fan base. However, for any degale fan to use that as an excuse for him losing is ridiculous.

I don't think Groves has a racist fanbase, more just an anti-**** fanbase. But that said when it's a white English man fighting a non white Englishman I would expect the white and non-white English boxing fans to follow their respective representative more often than not, it's human nature. The same way I doubt there's many British ****stanis that root against Khan. It's not racism, or if it is it's pretty benign racism.
I doubt many would complain about being likened to B Hop, or Mayweather. I think things like what Minter said get blown out of proportion, he was just of his time.
True, would be unfair to judge him completely by. Todays standards. All comments have a context, which should be remembered - the time and place of those commens get forgotten many a time. Was he right in that time - no. But it was less of an issue than it would be today.
