Hi all, Not so new to the forum, even though my post count is under 5- old member with an old username and password that I cannot possibly remember. (yk2bad or ykdadamaja I thinks). Anyways, we as fans were cheated out of a few fights that SHOULD have happened. I started to think about this and how we will be cheated out of a Mayweather vs. Pacman fight. This would break my spirits as a fan of the sport if this fight were not to come off. The first big one was: Lewis vs. Bowe. We really missed this fight. Bowe was the cause of this and he will never be ranked higher than Lewis because of this. We needed to see this fight. Period. The second is Holmes vs. Foreman. Man we needed to see this. Even if both of them were slightly over the hill at the time they COULD have clashed, the fight would have been epic. The third fight was Hagler vs. Leonard II. The rematch should have happened. A rubber match too. Leonard is a ***** for not making the fight. Hagler is a quiter for not sticking in and try to make this fight. Hagler may have won this one, I feel very strongly about that. Some other contender type fights could have been made as well. Moorer missed a few opportunities for a pay day as well as Wlad could have fought Lewis. But they aren't that important now... Lewis fought Vitali and Moorer got busted up and never regained after the Foreman ko. Anything else that comes to mind? Cheers!
Tyson Vs Holyfield as it was originally planned - 1991 Also, had he not ended up in prison I believe he would have collided head-on with Riddick Bowe in 1992, & that would have been a war... So Tyson Vs Bowe 1992 Foreman Vs Ibeabuchi 1996 (u could still classify the president as a journeyman then for foreman, but imagine the bomb-fest it would have been) :bbb It's late here in Australia so if I can't think of more on the spot forgive me, i'l get back to you on this topic
Yes. Tyson vs. Bowe. YES, YES, YES!!! Ibeabuchi vs. Holyfield/Bowe and/or Tyson. Why did the Prez have to ****? We were robbed!!! Damn...
good idea for a thread and a good opening post with good examples Note that even if pac-may will happen it will happen too late when both fighters are removed from their prime instead of when it should have happened which is 1-3 years ago. I would argue that Toney-Jones and Ali-Foreman are other 2 examples for these but only the avid users here know what i mean. even jones-calzaghe and hopkins-calzaghe can be regarded as such . same for lewis-klitschko #2 , lewis rahman #3 , louis-schmelling #3 and lewis-mccall #2 (and yes , i mean #2 , not just #3) , frazier-chuvalo (frazier thumbed him which ruined the fight) , anyway : larry holmes-duane bobick (rematch from the ams) larry holmes-nick wells (whom will always be remembered as holmes' daddy) bobick-wells (battle of the daddies and a rematch from the ams) jones-liles (rematch from the ams) jones-michalczewski (to set true "lineality") jones-mcclellan (rematch from the ams) jones-collins jones-eubanks toney-jackson liles-toney jones vs orlin norris toney vs orlin norris byrd vs orlin norris and i will try to go for the "biggest" now : tyson-tua vitali-mccall @ 2001 or 2004 vitali-mccline (we were robbed of it as mccline was robbed of the decision vs peter) (one could argue that if wlad beat him then it's unnecessay but wlad also beat byrd whom stopped his brother and vitali beat puritty only due to cuts) toney vs byrd jones vs byrd lewis vs byrd jones vs toney @ hw or cw
Duran/Leonard III in june 81 with a motivated & non weight drained Duran thrashing that charlatan within an inch of his life just as he did in Montreal. But Leonard would never re-match Duran/Hearns or Benitez not unless he could drain them:deal
Jones vs. Byrd is definitely a must see 10 years ago. Byrd. vs. Toney was a must see only 5 years ago-- just to see what would happen. I never knew Tua vs. Tyson was in the talks? How far did this get?
Haye could have already fought Vitali now and still went on to face Wlad regardless of the outcome Klitschko-Valuev is one I'd like to have seen. Valuev was kept well away from both brothers Roy Jones against Benn or Eubank, or slighty later against Calzaghe (but not as late as when they actually fought)
In my time i'd say we were robbed of: Benn - jones 4 years worth of tyson Oscar - winky Hamed - morales Marquez - morales Lewis - wlad Pavlik - abraham Hatton - witter Calzaghe having a good run at lhw
Tunney vs Schmeling..i think Tunney would have decisively defeated the great German in a Battle of Cool..two high quality, cool strategic greats of the game.
.... damn. 4 years worth of Tyson. I'm afraid that that is the saddest thing of it all. We were also robbed of 4 years worth of Ali too. Both were equally tragic. :-( Was DLH vs. Winky a fight in the making? That is news to me. How far did it progress?
Well, we haven't been robbed of out of Haye vs. The Klit's just yet. I think the talk of Haye retiring is just talk-- he won't do it. He wants those fights for the payday! Valuev is another Don King promotion-- literally!! He fought absolutely NO ONE. A gigantic gimick! While I'm no big fan of Haye, I'm glad he made him look like the gimick he was. Don King's failed- thankfully- attempt at turning boxing into wrasslin!! :rasta
