Well it will certainly be a yardstick to measure himself against Fitzer.

If Spike can stop Long then he certainly will hold some bragging rights over Fitzer but if Long beats Spike then there will have to be a couple of portions of humble pie dished out on Leeside.

Spot on :good I believe Spike will beat Long though maybe even stop him but Long is one tough boyo and wIll be prepared to fight. Another yardstick could be if Spike beats him convincinly cause lets face it Fitz didnt.

Great PPV on Saturday night - was well worth the money. I couldn't call De-Gale Groves before the fight and I'd have been reluctant to call it afterwards. I think Jim Watts comments re Frankie Gavin were right - Mutley was stopped by Colin Lynes four years ago but Gavin was unable to stop him. Granted it was a good comprehensive win but it didn't look like a stepping stone to world class.

I noticed that the Heino cup was Sky only at the weekend. I've been informed that the good folk at RTE were bursting their bollox to get it, ****en typical - so much for that shite a few months back that they had a set sports budget at the start of the year and couldn't accomadate any further events. It's times like this I'm gald I don't pay for a TV licence.

Interesting to see the loyal citizens of cork came out to in their numbers for her majesty, rebels me arse! They can get 30,000 on the streets to welcome her but at they same time they can only manage 3000 to watch a hurling match when cusack, o'hailpin & co were on strike and only another 10000 to protest to bring back the strikers. I think the previous comments re hype were bang on the money.

Moral of the story is - In Cork the Queen of England is more than twice as popular as any Cork hurling team!

Moylette did very well in Germany recently id say he gets the nod at 64.Are the box offs on this weekend with the under 18 championships,I hope the senior champion will be afforded a straight final place with the other two boxing off to face him.Id say 60k Davy Oliver v Eric Donovan winnner to meet young Mc Donagh.69k JJJ versus Mc Loughlin winner to box Nolan.Great fights would love to watch these.

Don't know any more Jonny, I talked to Billy Walsh last week and simply put the final decision is his, once the board approve his picks.
Don't know exactly where the split is re box offs, but like you say I'd imagine 60 and 69. Ward has done enough to go to the Euros and only missed the training camp in Germany cos he was sick.
Hickey's case was obviously different with the army thing.
