No way. He was flatfooted and used the roll with the punches technique. His prime fight was vs. mosley in their 1st fight. He was trying to put on a show due to the criticism he received from the Trinidad fight previously. If he had of actually boxed rather than chasing the faster Mosley around, he could have won a UD.
Vs. Vargas he was slower but had more power, but wasn't the combination puncher he was at the lighter weights, also not as fast.

Mayweather changed his style but I think Alcazar was his best trainer. Too bad he dropped him and blamed him for his Trinidad loss.

They were expecting Oscar to be at 160lbs; it didn't matter they knew how to beat Oscar.

ceebz: is 100% correct on this one. Oscar screwed up the weight management. Deer & Kangaroo meat was his big diet rage, just watch the 24/7 series and he tells all about how he's coming in lighter. Roach commented that Oscar was an idiot for not coming in as the bigger man. Instead of training for the fight they went on a diet.

People are really clueless in this forum when it comes to dehydration and weight management.

If DLH was terribly dehydrated, he would've looked it at the weigh-in. However, Oscar had good color, didn't look tight, wasn't gaunt, no signs of dehydration at all. If Oscar had dried up to make weight, he would've put on a ton of water weight between the weigh-in and the fight. That didn't happen, either.

Oscar and his team made a tactical error, he believed that if he stayed light after the Forbes fight, he would be faster for the second Mayweather fight, which he believed was going to happen.

Regardless, Pacquiao destroys a 160 pound DLH, too. Oscar was completely outclassed that night. 13 pounds wasn't going to save him.

Are you kidding? Oscar looked the worst he's ever looked. Pale as a ghost, eyes blood shot and sickly thin.

Why did he feel like he needed to be faster? ODLH did well in their fight being the bigger man. If he needed to improve on anything, it was his stamina.

Look at his eyes. They look tired and glossy and has bags under. He looks sick and worried, not to mention unhealthy and weak. He was using IV's for fuk sakes. But yea, he was just as healthy as always lol

Before this fight was made, Pac had one fight at 135 against David Diaz. Oscar had fought at a catchweight between 147 and 154 against Steve Forbes. 147 was the agreed upon weight where Oscar and Pac would meet, which was 12 pounds higher than the highest weight Pac had previously fought and about 4 pounds under what Oscar had weighed in against Forbes.

It had been 7 years or so since Oscar fought at 147 (vs. Gatti). But Oscar said no problem and even agreed to a stiff penalty (half million for each pound over 147). Oscar probably hoped Pac would come in looking fat, sluggish, and slow at 147. Freddie Roach took the fight based on his assessment that Oscar could no longer pull the trigger.

Oscar made weight about 3 weeks before the fight, probably losing muscle in the process and shrank his stomach, which explains the small weight gain of 2 pounds from weigh in to the fight.

People argue that Oscar only lost because of the weight drain and dehydration. These symptoms did not appear until the middle of the 5th round, but lost all the early round to Pac anyway.

The truth is Oscar lost because of many factors, being weight drained/dehydrated being only one of the causes. Pac boxed him beautifully. Oscar even said he could not handle Pac's speed, southpaw stance, ans weird angles. Pac's footwork and head movement rendered Oscar's jab useless. Inthe later rounds, Oscar had opportunities to throw a punch but could not seem to get off, a clear sign of an aging fighter.

A prime Oscar would sure have swarmed Pac. But to assume Oscar just automatically KO's Pac is just plain silly especially if Pac employed the same gameplan. Would have been a competitive fight no doubt.

LMAO, what happened to his eyes being bloodshot? Now, they're "tired and glossy", HAHA.

DLH at the Mayorga weigh in, he looks no different:

Looks no different?? He actually has a healthy glow to him he normally had, but he was whiter than ever before the Pac fight.
Answer this. Why did he need IV's if he was healthy? Why did Roach even acknowledge this if it was no big deal?

Pac was great in the Oscar fight, no denying that. But Oscar was a totally shot fighter, way past his prime, and unhealthy to boot. Denying that is just delusional.

Oscar is a very powerful man in boxing. There was a huge backlash on him for taking this fight against a litte guy. He knew he wont get much credit if HBO showed he outweighed Pac by 20lbs. Perhaps he tried to come in light to prove a point, besides, who knows how legit that supposed unofficial weight of ODLH was...he practically controlled HBO boxing.
