Why can't every fight on a PPV bill be shown?

I sat on the settee from 8-12 and had an enjoyable evening. However I aways want more.

On SBO there is no scheduling problems regarding other sports, so why is there a time limit?

I could ave sat there happy for a couple more hours watching Smith, Cox, Cook and co.

Whether fights are good or not should be my choice as a PPV punter and not the broadcaster.

 

Its because of the extra OB costs (and greed) and the fact that the casual fan doesnt get a crap about all of the under card fights. Of course, I would love to see all of them live and most boxing fans would, but PPVs are nothing more than a cash grab. Value for money doesnt even come into it.

 

I couldn't believe they never even showed Smith and Cook on the repeats. What a joke.

 

to be frank some of the cards we get from America on normal Sky are more entertaining than some of the shite we get on SBO.

 

Id be happy with the earlier fights just showm , doesnt need punditary and comentators and then at 8 or 9 pm when the show goes live they can show the rest.

 

or they could start the show off with the live fights, then after the main event and ****s like Nelson have had their gripe how bum boy never turned up they can put the undercard fights on.

 

It is a joke that there are ads and its even more of a joke that we don't see AT LEAST a 5 card main event every time. Too many fights are scheduled for 12 for the hell of it. Gavin vs Mutley should have been for 10 rounds, forget about the shitty belt. Mainstream and hardcore fans don't want to sit through round after round of ****. Shorter, action packed fights should become standard.

was at an event in Bellahouston a few weeks back, 6 x 2 mins rounds (6 fights) then the main event a 10 rounder over 3 mins, some good action as well, all done in just over 3 hours with a 15mins break in between.

 

Yeah would be good if they showed some more of the undercard fights.

As for the adverts think of it like this... It's just more money to be re-invested into Sky's boxing budget!

 

That's the one really good thing about Top Rank PPVs, the entire non-PPV undercard is streamed legally for free on their website. The quality isn't great and it does fall out at times, but the effort is appreciated.

All told, we sometimes get to see about a dozen matches on the full cards (between the TR live stream and then the PPV itself)

 

The main event and co main event which should always be for genuine titles is where the championship distance should be. Get the people amped with 4 to 10 round dusts ups. Instead short distances are used as fillers or people fighting bums to pad their record etc

The championship distance should be like DeGale vs Groves - a story unfolding. It most certainly should not be like Gavin vs Mutley - someone coming to get paid.

 

I watched the ppv but refused to pay because of this issue. If Sky decided to show every fight then I would happily pay the £15 but as we only get to see 4 fights the deal is shite and watching the bill by other means is a far better option.

 

Surely though a lot of boxing fans are going to stop giving Sky their money if they don't show all the main fights.

Thing is, how much more would showing the rest of the card cost Sky? If Cook fights Burns they will be showing Saturday's fight in the build-up, they've probably already paid for it.

Great points about lower fights on the bill should be no more than six rounds. Though that might be the Prizefighter mentality taking all of us over!

 

They could put the live undercard on the red button from say 6pm, commentary or not.... they'll be recording everything anyhow.

Two hours of that before tripping into the main coverage at 8. Sorted.

Not a lot of extra effort.

 

thats a good idea. just have a b team commentating Ed Robinson with Nicky Piper or something. they should at least make all recorded fights avalible on sky sports website.

chris evangelou told me if your fight is taped and not shown live they will send you it on file and you can put it on youtube. its the fighters that can't be bothered or are not smart enough to do it.
