Hopkins would have beaten Calzaghe decisively in a rematch. Yes/No?

are you saying hopkins wasn't fit in his fight with calzaghe?:lol::patsch wasn't hopkins the one who brought the A team of freddie roach and nazeem richardson for training camp?

i'm sure he did... it was calzaghe who didn't take bernard seriously!!. he kept saying bernard was an old man and would be an easy win for him. he was far too relaxed in the build up of the fight.

stop with your fantasy bull****!!. in a rematch, joe would take him a lot more seriously. he'd beat him in a better fashion because he understands hopkins style from the first fight. if hopkins were to change his tactics and stand his ground more, he'd lose in a more emphatic way.

    END OF STORY!!

As far as who is the greater fighter? No question Bernard Hopkins.

No dickchecker jawlover knobslobber is gonna convince me otherwise.

However, the match-up is quite close. Bernard was susceptible to being outworked and he still is. Calzaghe's best assets play right against Bernard's biggest weaknesses. Bernard is still the smarter, better boxer, so he made it a close fight that many believe he won.

I think the second fight would look very similar--Joe still being prone to flash knockdowns and that.

Gosh, don't cry Conner. I think your dad is decent. He's just not extraordinary and if you keep it in perspective then you won't have any problems. It is when you make him out to be something he's clearly not that annoys people. He was definitely almost competitive with a man more than seven years his senior who took him a little too lightly, came into the Thomas & Mack a bit under-conditioned, and like old men of his age can do had an off night. Your dad - on the other hand - always had a good head on his shoulders, okay hand speed, decent stamina, and a strong belief in his abilities. Nothing wrong with that. I'm not personally impressed (at all) by his athleticism but he's clearly near the top of those coming from the same rather homogeneous talent pool. You should look up to him. Ever kid should respect his dad. Don't let the recent stuff get you down.:good I've got Welsh family on one side. Joe will always be one of my favorite Welsh fighters. I would pick Joe over most other Welsh fighters every single time.

    Nooblet,

I thought that was you or your brother with another ID. You mean it is not? Ah, who would have thought there was more than one hairless little school boy worshipping Joe's ass?

Are you still not accomplishing anything and posting regularly on ESB, son? You're never going to make anything of yourself being a boxrec warrior kid.

That was three careers not three businesses. Go back and refresh your memory with my posts - it will help you out.

What do you want to know to make you feel worse? You know it will hurt.

Lets hear about these 3 careers that made you a multi millionaire and semi retired by 30, which means not completely retired.

Calzaghe beats Hopkins at any stage of their careers, Calzaghe was much near retirement than Hopkins when they fought and Calzaghe was far more shot, I said at the time that the phenomenal Hopkins was 95% prime at the time and this has been proved correct, Calzaghe was 75% prime at best, his hands shot, his motivation on the wane, Hopkins had home advantage and Adalaide Byrd as one of the judges and still lost, Calzaghe fought one of his worse fights {even taking into consideration Hopkins style} ever.

If they had rematched Calzaghe would have won far easier, just ask any bookmaker, Calzaghe was big odds on to beat Hopkins in the first match, although Calzaghe had never previously fought at Light-Heavyweight before, Calzaghe would have been such a big favourite in a rematch that we would have needed binoculars to see Hopkins odds, can you imagine if the rematch was in Wales in front of 50,000 plus people on a cold winters night, Hopkins would have had no chance at all.

Calzaghe`s speed & workrate beats any version of Hopkins IMO, I think he beats Hopkins more clearly in a rematch but the fight would be **** again... that 1st fight was absolutely dire, Calzaghe just edged it but no-one really deserved to win, it was boring as ****.
Calzaghe was a great h2h fighter.

Sure where do you want me to start? [and it is "bated" - you are not fishing]

I began as a tax accountant in the Los Angeles office of Arthur Andersen & Co (later Arthur Andersen LLP).

After that I was with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) - also in Los Angeles - on the audit side.

I went to a client in my third year and worked as an Accounting Manager and then Controller.

We were acquired in the second year by a New York based Fortune 250 company in the early 90s. I was a controller in one of their divisions for another year.

I left accounting and moved back to California. I had been a musician as a child (my uncles were all life long musicians) and decided to take a much needed break from traditional business and left for Asia. I spent the next six years composing music - including for two of the largest artists in Hong Kong in the 90s. I'm also a rock drummer.

I returned to the US in the late 90s - bought two homes - and have been an investor/equity trader ever since.

I haven't had a traditional job since the early 90s. I was able to put a suit and tie away permanently.

Most importantly, Bailey, I graduated from one of the best institutions in the US in the mid-80s (and played and started at university). Many things can go right if you lay the right foundation as opposed to spending every hour posting on an internet sport site. Growing up a bitter nationalistic bigoted Calzaghe defending mega-poster is no way to live. You should leave that to those that are old, have already made their life, or have accepted their situation and can't generate the will to change it.

We've had this discussion before. You are making a fool of yourself trying to boxrec boxing arguments when you can be spending that same time accomplishing something.

What something more? Bank account total?

Hopkins won the first fight 114-113 in my book. I think he would have won the rematch too, but not decisively. Another close fight.
