Either he's lost a step or the weight has made him slow down a bit. I think he makes up for it in skill, timing, and experience, but the speed and reflexive quickness are just lower than what they used to be.
Judging by how he performed against Mosley. Yes. But, IMO Pacquiao was taking it easy during the fight. I mean after the ref called a KD on him he just exploded and run after Mosley! I don't think he took the fight seriously against Mosley.
I don't think he has; he wasn't pushed at all by Mosely, wasn't tagged and I think partly because Mosely was all nicey nicey pre fight Pacquiao wasn't so quick to naturally go to war. The real Pacquiao appeared briefly when the referee wrongly called the knockdown. If Mosely had fought with Pacquiao and hit Pacquiao rather than just trying to survive, that Pacquiao would have been there all fight in my opinion. We'll know for sure in his next fight when Marquez lands some leather/try to win the fight, I'm pretty certain feral Pacquiao will be there to dish out the hurt.
That's what made me think he's lost a slight step. I didn't see him gliding around the ring like he's walking on air. That amazing foot speed, moving in and out, left and right. Part of it has to do with Mosley but i think he did lose a slight step.
yeah it worries me to be honest, he needs that speed in his legs if the mayweather fight eventually happens. Pac says the cramp in his legs bothered him, but he looked slightly slower in the legs from the beginning, if we compare it with the version hatton and cotto fought. I guess its normal though at his age, father time catches up with anyone (besides hopkins), including pacquiao.
Not only mayweather, but Marquez will be able to counter the **** out of him if he no longer has that movement.
no your right it catches up to everyone....its just B-Hop's style it made for a longer career...Pac's isn't
Since beating Cotto, Pac's looked slower of hand and foot. Compare his recent fights to his movement and speed in the De La Hoya fight...very noticable decline, but not surprising given his age, added weight, and wear and tear.
Yeah i agree, thats why I dont think he will blow marquez away like some people think, marquez will aim for perfection vs pacquiao it will be tough, but because of the age of marquez and the higher weight pac should win, I think he wins 116-112 type decision to be honest, or stops marquez late. Marquez is a tough intelligent boxer, and if manny really lost a step it wont be a easy fight, for sure.
Also....JMM himself though has lost a step coupled with fighting at a heavier weight....im only hoping the best JMM possible will show up.
