Pacs 8 divisions or hopkins' oldest man to be a champion? People get a shot at a belt easier nowadays so old guys especially the ones with a great rep can get a easy shot, on the other hand collecting titles troughout the divisions is gettin easier as well because of how many belts there are and how easily top guys get stripped.
I think Hopkins'. Despite all the titles out there 8 divisions is a hell of a lot it's a Light Welterweight going up to Heavyweight
it is pretty sick, like a guy wins a belt at lightweight then jumps to welter and collects belts untill heavy, thats equal to pacs route. I do think if someone actually beats pacs record it will be indeed from the lower weights.
Voted Pacquiao but meant Hopkins. Heck, Holyfield should hold the record, he DID beat Valuev. They just robbed him.
With HGH, steroids and slin the oldest champ thing has no meaning anymore. Foreman was the last great old champ who was 100% drug free.
Even starting at Miniweight you need to go upto Super Featherweight, thats putting on almost 30% of your body weight
holyfield would be 46 and 2 months so hopkins would still be ahead but yeah he was indeed robbed, I think a guy like vitali has the technique, style and chin to make a comeback in some years and try to snatch a title, the future of the heavyweight division looks weaker then now, it wouldnt surpsrise me if he made a move.
To realistically get a shot at Pac's record, one has to start out at the very least at bantamweight and win early as a teenager. Even after doing that, that person has to have the type of body to not only grow bigger but maintain effectiveness while pickin up belts thru weight classes. To beat Bhop's record, one just has to be 46 and beat a titleholder....any titleholder, that is to say you can beat a paperchamp and still beat that record. So yes, Pac's record is definitely harder to beat.
Option one: Be over Hopkin's age and win a title. or paper title Option two: Win paper titles in your weight classes, then move up and take paper titles in catchweight fights billed as a championship fights for that particular weight class.
Hopkins' probably but we won't see any of those records broken anytime soon. Let's be honest, how many guys really have the chance of longetivity that Hopkins did or dominance that Pacquiao has? With such unecessary emphasis on flash there aren't enough fundamentally-sound boxers and for some reason not enough young guys with big hearts to do what Pacquiao and Hopkins have done. Both records will not be broken for a while because of this but I do admit that Pacquiao was basically handed the 154 belt against Margarito who wasn't proven at the weight. Yeah Vitali can do it. Holyfield's last hurrah was against Valuev and yes he deserved to win that title(he won it in my eyes) but Vitali can beat that record. I also think Lewis could've done it if he still had his hunger for the sport.
:rofl 140lbs to 200lbs+ is 60 pounds Pac went from 112 to 150(145) thats 38 pounds in 12 years so a poor comparison Somebody could go from straw to SFW, (105-130) in the course of their career picking up 8 trinkets along the way Hopkins is the greater achievment & will hopefully last longer. The poll should say oldest lineal champ
I can understand why they robbed him. I don't think they will allow history to be made when the champion in that fight(Valuev) was nothing but a protected circus show. Hell, everyone knows Valuev didn't even beat Ruiz for that belt.
Hardly a poor comparison, its the same feat just at the bigger weights. Your going to need to start young and have a freakish body which ever way you go about it. In the smaller weights you have to be able to keep your speed whilst growing. Look at the average heights of guys fighting at 130 and 105....hell of an achievement to go from to the other
pacmans 8 titles thing is a joke. If you cannot weigh in at the right weight for a fight I think the title win is not legit. They handed him titles. Back in the 1980s, winning 3 titles at 3 weights was harder because you had WBC,IBF and WBA. Then more titles came out. I was hoping they would stop at WBO,, at least I could have accepted that, but then IBO,IBC,WBF etc. The oldest title thing is more legit, although with all the titles now it will be easier for a heavyweight to win that title. The Klitchkos are not that young. If they fight another 5 or more years they will break it.
