Im sure Gaz will be right onto the nuances of why Ray deserves such a high ranking when he sees this thread ;) though he still has to give his own list which should make for interesting reading :think

I'd find a ''Top 10 of the Decade'' easier to do.

Then again, for the 2000's after Pacquiao and Hopkins at #1 and #2 I'd be struggling to put the rest of the names in the right order.

Might look at the 80's, 90's and 00's later, see where I end up.

    4. Joe Calzaghe
    5. Juan Manuel Marquez
    6. Oscar De La Hoya
    7. Ivan Calderon
    8. Veron Forrest
    9. Shane Mosley
    10. Wladamir Klitscko

Can't see Floyd over B-Hop myself. Your top 10 isn't bad, but I'd have Durab in over Monzon or Hagler myself....Hagler and Monzon sit just outside my top 30 :good

    only my opinion :good

    Mine would be something like.....

    1. Pacquiao
    2. Hopkins
    3. Mayweather
    4. Marquez
    5. Morales
    6. Barrera
    7. Mosley
    8. DLH
    9. Jones
    10. Lewis

    ------------------

    1990's - a quick list.....

    1. Jones
    2. Whitaker
    3. Chavez
    4. Holyfield
    5. DLH
    6. Lewis
    7. Trinidad
    8. Barrera
    9. Morales
    10. Lopez

Probably at least a couple of glaring omissions there

These are pretty solid. I wouldn't have that much love for Trinidad though. Above MAB for 90's? No way, he did most of his best work in the 90's.

The 80's I think will be the hardest of the three.... there's lot of quality in there, and there's lots that were only active for part of that decade, such as Arguello, Whitaker, Leonard, Holyfield and so on.

I suspect if you polled everyone on the 80's you'd have some pretty variable lists, whereas the 90's and 00's I'd be surprised if more than 15 names came up for each.

    Mine would be something like:

    1. Manny Pacquiao
    2. Bernard Hopkins
    3. Floyd Mayweather
    4. Juan Manuel Marquez
    5. Joe Calzaghe
    6. Marco Antonio Barrera
    7. Eric Morales
    8. Winky Wright
    9. Shane Mosley
    10. Roy Jones Jr.

And I'm not even going to contemplate a top 10 of all time. I know of the greats, but not enough to do such a list justice :good
