why does have to fight young dangerous fighters? Why not just fight bin men, waifs and strays like he did earlier in his career? The man has fought his career the wrong way round! I joke! I joke!
I just want him to retire. Next time he's doing an HBO broadcast, I think Jim Lampley should tell him it's time to hang 'em up on the air.
I know - what the **** is the guy doing? Ok - if you need the money, I understand. But if you're a name like Roy you can make money fighting bums (he should know). But the man has a great gig in HBO, he doesn't need to fight anymore. I don't want to see him getting brutally KO'd with average shots. It's sad, he's destroying his brain for no reason.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjkKiZfJwaQ[/ame] He could always sell his basketball court and unused living room mirror to pay off his debts.
I always liked Roy but was never a HUGE fan, but watching the end of his career, for me, has been truly ****ing depressing.
I don't understand why someone like Lebedev would be on Roy's radar, either, even with the obvious reason of the $500,000 purse. At this point putting him in with a power puncher is like making him sign up for a snuff film. There's gotta be softer touches to put him in with that could still make him OK money.
Im beginning to think he hasnt taken his training seriously throughout his career! and his trainers sucked ass! I remember being stationed in Pensacola and before he fought Tarver he was playing basketball on base instead of training like he should of and got KTFO!
the thing with lebedev is its a recogonizeable name on his resume...and roys name still carrys weight over there.....hes pretty popular and got a nice check he could probably make less money fighting some less tough opposition...but for someone like roy with his ego...he probably believes if everything goes right, on his best night, he can still beat just about anyone......which is unfortunate.....but hes probably hoping for one last big moment....where he shocks alot of people mking...i dont doubt that roy has had problems with proper training throughout his career....hes a guy whos whole style was predicated on ridiculous athletic ability.....and once that faded....he was left without the idea of how to properly prepare and really...some fundamental stuff that would have helped him as his reflexes deteriorated
dont' give him any more ideas. He needs to retire if he knows what good for him. At this point, he might lose to bums as well.
Interestingly if Lebedev didn't have KO power he had no chance of winning. Roy was beating him. I think Roy still has enough left to beat soft touches, but he has little to no chance against contenders. Going aganist Lebedev is like going against Bute, it's not a smart move for Roy. A smart move for Roy would be to go back to LHW, and win another fight against Clinton Woods, or guys like that. Roy has no future in the cruiserweight devision. It's just not a good weight for him and if he must stay there, then he should fight the guys who aren't punchers or technicians.
He should retire. But he isn't going to want to retire being knocked out. He should fight some easy fights if he doesn't want to end his career in Russia being knocked out. But his career as a championship fighter or even as a contender is over. He can beat guys like Clinton Woods and Jeff Lacy, but he can forget about Huck.
