Lewis' true status was proven in the greatest cauldron of all - Origin. Don't underestimate the strength of the BRL at the time either. Half the test side was running around in it and it was miles (Gene?) better than it is now.

Absolutely. I grew up in the mid 80s and have been to more BRL matches than I can remember. The quality of the competition was incredible. Feel free to go on - defending Lewis is a pretty easy debate.

The 80s hey ippy , they were the days , What about the king doing a drug test after a state of origin game and being totally dehydrated just waits till the offical gets distracted for a sec and pours a flat xxxx into the test cup and hands it over . The senator had to have a talk to the emperor a fortnight later not to do that stunt again.
