    Misunderstanding. :good

I agree, I can't see how it would get sanctioned. Maybe we'll see a Lithuanian Enzo Maccarinelli on the scene shortly. :nut

Enzo in call for Cleverly match at Swansea's Liberty Stadium
ENZO Maccarinelli is targeting a sensational all-Welsh showdown with WBO light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly.

Maccarinelli is challenging Cleverly to a bout at the Liberty Stadium, just days after the Cefn Fforest fighter capped off a hectic few days which saw him defend his crown for the first time.

Former WBO and EBU cruiserweight champion Maccarinelli, who is yet to fight at light-heavyweight, watched Cleverly stop Pole Aleksy Kuziemski in four rounds at London's O2 Arena.

There has been talk of him taking on Bernard Hopkins, but when asked about facing Cleverly, Maccarinelli said: "That's definitely a fight that's on the cards and what a big Welsh fight that would be — hopefully at Swansea's Liberty Stadium.

"I don't think Frank Warren would put him anywhere near Bernard Hopkins.

"He's 46 years of age but he's still class. You saw the trouble he gave Joe (Calzaghe). Some people questioned that decision, but I thought Joe won very well.

"But Hopkins still caused trouble against the best fighter on the planet. Joe was the best fighter on the planet — Nathan is not the best fighter on the planet.

"I've said I never wanted to fight Nathan. We were never that close, but he was a friend and an ex-team-mate of mine. We were never as close as I was with Joe. Me and Joe would have never boxed.

"But Nathan Cleverly's dad — Vince — feels the need to put me down and belittle me in front of people and on national television and papers. So, yes, that would be a fight I'd like."

Now back training with Enzo Calzaghe, Maccarinelli is hoping to resurrect his career following defeat to Alexander Frenkel last September.

He has been linked with a fight against Tony Bellew, who was a late replacement to face Cleverly before pulling out as he couldn't make the weight.

Cleverly said: "As for Maccarinelli, I think he's got a few issues to get sorted with a medical but if he gets himself into a mandatory position then it's possible."

If Enzo lands on Clev its goodnight. If he can do 175 and he says he can then he can hurt a lot of people with his power and they wont hurt him like a CW would.

If he could do 175 he would have done ages ago, like when he realised he couldn't take cruiserweight shots.

Enzo looked very fragile these days, I don't think boiling down to light heavy would help matters.

I think we would all have to see Mac at LHW and see how he performs etc.
If Mac can perfom well and isnt drained he may be able to do something at LHW, but questions like will his chin be weaker at a lesser weight, will he still have his power when cutting weight?

Another part of me wonders if Cleverly is a bit worried about Mac. Consider that Mac is a bit bigger and probably looked a big powerful fighter when they were in the gym together and Cleverly was a a few years younger.
I think I read that Nathan suffered a broken nose in sparring Enzo but could be completely wrong.

All the same Enzo even if not really a better fight is probably a fight that would capture the British public more than Nathans last late sub opponent, not that, that was down to Nathan.
I would like to see Nathan get a unification fight with Shumenov or Cloud

Surely not the best idea ever? You're proving chinny at a weight, looking shopworn and getting sparked in ever more nasty fashions, what would possess you to try and get ~2 stone off??

I agree, we gotta see Enzo fight a credible opponent at LH before he can justify a shot at the world title

Clev can lose against someone who has power, because they will land on his chin eventually

I think Mac has a chance but I would still fancy Clev

I would go as far as to say Enzo would barely even have a puncher's chance against Cleverly. He loads up and telegraphs every punch these days, and I believe his last few devastating losses have been largely due to his predictability.

I would say the more Enzo fights, the easier he will be beaten.

Clev talking bout wanting to go to America. Warren will probably use next Saturdays article to say Clev isnt ready to go over yet, needs more defences at home. Sounds a bit like Khan and Warren before the split dont it? :think I agree with Warren by the way. Cleverley aint world class yet, needs more experience. Although in saying that, I think hes the type of fighter that wont realise his potential till he loses.
