Even though you look like a Calzaghe fanboy:lol::lol:.. I would still have to say Calzaghe... his workrate could be tough for Ward being that we have not seen Ward against a elite fighter with that type of output.... after the Froch fight.. it could be easier to assess but at the time I say Calzaghe.. and I honestly don't see why anyone would argue against choosing Calzaghe

50/50 fight. A SD decision for either fighter is almost guaranteed in my opinion.

Calzaghe's biggest "historic" win was Kessler. Andre Ward took care of him after only 20 fights literally coming off 10 rounders and his very first step up. Not only did he take care of him, he scared out of the super six and almost retired him. A Kessler who was the strong favorite to win the super six with "ease" based on hype by drunken losers who, obviously, also happen to be Calzaghe supporters.

Kessler is now out of the picture, Lacy is also out so all Calzaghe fans can do now is pray Hopkins keeps winning. Otherwise who will bump threads to remind people, who easily/quickly forgot, that there was a guy called Calzaghe once in this sport and he beat two name fighters.

The problem with hypothetical Calzaghe fights is that he never fought a top level, prime fighter so there's nothing solid on which to base a prediction.

I would bet the fight goes all 12 rounds. It would be up to the judges to decide if they appreciate the man coming forward (Ward) or the man landing more slap-like blows and has better punchtrax numbers (Calzaghe). Most likely, Slappy takes a debatable UD.

What a ridiculous post and you forget that Calzaghe beat undefeated Kessler not beaten unwell double vision suffering Kessler and have you forgotten how Calzaghe beat Bika clearer and easier than Ward? You must have. Eubank was also a better win for Calzaghe than Kessler was for Ward.
Wards best win is an unwell beaten Calzaghe left over in Joakland, when Kessler had only had 3 completed rounds in a year.
Ward may be a better fighter but accomplished wise he has only done as much as Byron Mitchell and Jeff Lacy at this time, thats not saying he wont do better than them, but I remember all of the hype in The Ring for those 2 and look what happend when they fought Calzaghe

The Kessler that Ward got to fight was not the same fighter Calzaghe had to fight. He had been out with injuries, struggled in come back matches with guys he would usually obliterate and had lost the fundamentals that made people respect him.

Where was his jab and movement against Ward? It was certainly there against Calzaghe. You could say Ward took it away from him but Ward doesn't really do anything on the outside to do that, once he's on the inside, Ward is a rough little **** with his head and smothering tactics but from the outside?

Ward doesn't have the handspeed, endurance, chin, footwork, inside style, physical strength nor discipline of Calzaghe. Ward would get taken into a fight and dominated out the other end, solely because he does things that are Calzaghe-esque but he's not as good as the man who does them.

Ward is a great fighter, don't get me wrong and I think he'll end up being a LHW champion to go with the SMW title too - but ultimately, he wasn't a patch of hair on Calzaghes bollocks and could very easily lose to Froch if they fight in a final.

Ward wins a comfortable UD. He's too technical for Calzaghe. Any fighter with Ward's slickness, defence and infighting skills allied to the fact he is in his prime and not over 40 years old, would expose all of Calzaghe's technical deficiencies. Calzaghe would not outwork and outlast a guy Ward's age who has Ward's skillset and determination, therefore the Welshman really has nothing else to bring to the table. Ward would land the better punches in every round, and take a wide decision.
