    Funny though, because apparently Dawson got his **** pushed in by Dirrell in sparring(almost KO'd). I don't see Pascal really ****ing his **** up... But Cloud...Maybe? I still havent seen dude against even a DECENT mover.

    The reason I say Pascal is because Dirrell's defense is based on "look how far away from you I can get with just a couple of steps :tong" whereas Pascal's offense is contingent on the principle of "hey, I can close a four yard gap in a single bound, WHILE throwing a powerful flurry in a supersonic blur". I actually think his hand speed in those instances is in the same neighborhood as Dirrell's, and the combination of leaping in and flurrying would be enough to offset AD's quick reflexes and catch him dead to rights. Hands down, man down. A powerful Pascal hook landing flush & unseen on Dirrell's chin would be pretty finalizing, IMO.

    That's interesting about the sparring session; I'd forgotten about that interview. I'd love to see a video of that. Of course, not to suggest that Dirrell didn't get the better of him...but this IS FMS we're talking about, so a bit of embellishment to make his point (or a whole shitload of embellishment) isn't out of the question. Also, I can very much see Dawson as the type to 'coast' through sparring sessions and not put in as spirited an effort as a bouncy ball of energy like Dirrell. Hell, he coasts through most of his actual fights. :yep

    :huh OK.

    That isn't really what the thread is about, so much as who will be the big star of the division to fill the void when Hopkins either loses or retires.

    I see you voted Pascal in the poll

    Do you see him claiming the throne by winning a rubber match with Hopkins, or by it just falling to him once Hopkins abdicates, with the #2 guy automatically filling the vacancy at #1?

    Do you think he needs to beat Dawson in a rematch and also beat Cloud to become that "man" of the division, or does he need to just wait for Hopkins to be out of the picture and that's it?

    Yeah, he looks good there. Better than some of the other Cuban ex-pats we've gotten more exposure to over here (looking at you, Despaigne! :twisted:)

    As for him slipping my notice - I haven't caught too many of those RTE cards, regrettably (never really hear about them, even in the Brit forum...only frequent checking of the the Irish Boxing thread really seems to keep one abreast). It seems he took out Byron Mitchell - his biggest scalp to date - on the Casey-Hyland card, which I wound up kicking myself hard for missing. :verysad

    Shumenov and Campillo would lose badly to Dawson and Cloud. Dawson wouldn't even bother with those two.

    I'm surprised you think Cleverly has a suspect chin. I weas also surprised people thought he was hurt in his last fight. I thought he just laughed those shots off, honestly. He took them and wasn't wobbled or hurt and came back. I think he probably gives the impression he's hurt sometimes because he wants to get involved in a brawl and he will take a few shots on the bounce, but I don't see him getting knocked down or out any time soon.

    Dawson needs to rejuvinate himself and fast, he should go after Pascal and maye just maybe he will learn how to up the ante for this fight, knowing he cant lose to pascal again especialy how he hasnt even got a title on the line.

    Fight bernard and go on a mission to unfiy against cloud and clev if theyre still about.

    He has the tools but it angers me how he doesnt have the hunger, this guy could have one of the best resumes in boxing if he wanted it.

    I honestly don't give a flying **** what Dan Rafael or Golden Boy Magazine have to say. :lol:

    I'm not competing with them to win hearts and minds, either - so therefore don't really care about being 'outnumbered'. If people agree with me, great. If not, great.

    The point of the thread was to get discussion going, not to state absolutes. :good



    As for Diaconu - anyone with a working set of peepers could see that he has looked very flat in his last few performances and despite his impressive rise up the ranks before he ran into Pascal, he is no longer in actuality one of the ten best light heavyweights in the world. I'm not sure he's even top 20 tbh. An under-performing Dawson made him look incredibly beatable.
