Arum "JMM needs to fight a legitimate WW before he gets to fight pacq again" WTF!!!

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by $uckaPunch41510, May 24, 2011.

  1. Do you have any response to Oscar De La Hoya's assertion that Manny Pacquiao should be fighting Juan Manuel Marquez instead of Antonio Margarito?

As far as Marquez is concerned, he's a very, very good fighter. He's a nice person. But one thing that he hasn't demonstrated is that he can compete as a welterweight. He certainly didn't demonstrate that in the fight with Floyd Mayweather. Before he starts talking about fighting Manny Pacquiao at this higher weight, let him fight a legitimate welterweight.

Let him fight [WBC welterweight champion] Andre Berto, who is looking for a fight. Let him fight Joshua Clottey, who I promote and who I can get for him to fight. Let him fight a legitimate welterweight. Once he fights a legitimate welterweight and succeeds, then don't you think that we would love to put him in against Manny Pacquiao?

That's assuming Pacquioa beats Antonio Margarito. We would love to then make a fight between Pacquiao and Marquez. We would love to do that. But how can you sell a Pacquiao-Marquez fight, when Marquez has never demonstrated that he can fight as high as welterweight?

what ****in WW did Jmm fight and beat to now all of a sudden hit the lotto?:think more top rank pacq bs. If pacq is the best fighter in the world p4p how would we no if he keeps facing inferior hand picked opponents? jmm is a name they can sell to the casuals he is no threat to manny above 135. :nono

Read the whole post. Classic closed minded hater. You didn't even bother to read the whole post before you made a conclusion that will put the fighter you hate in a negative light.

  8. **** you *******!!! you never answered the original question from the thread. What legit top WW has JMM beat to satisfy arums demands to get a 3rd fight wit pacq?

Nobody, and I tend to agree with Arum here. Marquez did give Manny two good fights, But make no mistake its argued by the Pacquiao fans and myself that Manny beat Marquez twice... so if he couldnt get it done in two fights not even one win then why give him a third?

Manny is in a corner now where he has limited fights that will satisfy the public, but the question is what fight should he take? To me a Marquez fight is a saftey type fight, thats a fight they know they can win again make some money and move on another year in the sport.

its time we suggest Manny fight someone he doesnt want to fight, Martinez at 154, Or Victor Ortiz at 147, or if Manny really wants to do whats best for Boxing take some damn test like you say you will and fight Mayweather...

I think its time for Pacquiao to take on either Ortiz, or Martinez rather than hand picking these old guys out of the retirement home...

"Yesterday I was lying today I'm telling the truth"

Yesterday: Marquez needs to beat a legit welterweight if he wants a fight with Pacquiao
Today: Marquez is first on our list of opponents

Yesterday: Manny is a natural 140 lber and can't come up to 154 (for Martinez)
Today: Manny is a welterweight and can't come down to 140 (for Marquez)

Yesterday: They weren't willing to compromise
Today: They offered us a 14 day cutoff

Yesterday: Mayweather is the best fighter I've seen since Ali
Today: Mayweather has been picking his opposition carefully

Yesterday: Pacquiao agreed to all of Floyd's demands
Today: We want a 7 day cutoff

Yesterday: Mayweather would never fight Mosley, he'll duck him because Mosley has the worst style for Floyd
Today: Floyd cherry picked Mosley and waited for him to get old

Pretty much everything Arun says publicly, he says with some sort of self serving purpose. He didn't want to make the fight before because he didn't want to split any money with Golden Boy. Now that he will be the sole promoter, he'll make the fight. He doesn't care if Marquez is not as effective at WW or if the fight will be competitive. He knows that fans will simply see two names they recongnize and will buy the fight in droves. If Mayweather were still with Top Rank, he and Manny would've probably fought twice by now.

Arum's words need no justification. If he wants to match Pac up with a guy who he thinks has no chance to win, who are you to question him???

If Pac fights anyone, you have no authority to question it. How dare you!!!:bbb
