THIS IS NOT ME SYING RAY ROBINSON IS ****.HES THE GOAT OF ALL TIME OR CLOSE ENOUGH TO IT

however people seem to think hes invincible which is a myth

sure hes definitely in the top 2 or 3 of all time (and probably number 1 although i'd personally have ali)

in a way he,like most black and white era fighters,is extremely overrated especially when you hear the answer to almost every fantsy fight involving him being "ray destroys him easy.hes not in ray's class".in that case no fighter in history can beat him.yet he has 19 losses meaning he can be beat.in fairness though the "unbeatable in fantasy fights" is often the case with any old time fighter

his resume includes some great fighters too but ALOT more average ones that are only considered "hall of famers" because they have 900 fights and 450 losses and fought in the stoneage

at the end of the day he was a terrific fighter, quite easily the best ever or close enough to it but in reality there have been men who would have beaten him (that he would not have defeated) since he retired

and i may get hate for this but search your feelings luke, you know this to be true

Sure he gets legendary, if not immortal status by the boxing community. Does his status tend to be exaggerated? Yes.

But well...he could do everything in the ring. Boxing skills, power, footwork, great chin, great stamina. Fighting and beating the best in his era and not to mention having 200 fights and never being TKOed one time (dont count the one taint on his record due to heat exhaustion), is no small feat.

He can be beat, but when he was focused and trained properly, he was just about the perfect fighter in the ring

When he lost to LaMotta the first time (91 win streak) he fought LaMotta in a rematch IN THE SAME MONTH. THATS ATG right there

He dominated for a few more years until he went on a euro road trip and lost his MW title to Turpin, he then trained for the rematch properly and spectacularly knocked him out

The rest of his losses were past his prime. SRR is far. FAR from ovverated

By resume standards, hell no he's not overrated. By head to head standards, yes he is.

You can make a case for guys like Greb or Langford being higher than him on the ATG list, but I don't think he's overrated.

well realize where more of those losses came.

    before he retired 131-3-2
One of those losses was to the light heavweight champion in a fight where he was winning, but blah blah, I'm sure you know the story. In conclusion Ray should have won.

Other loss was to Lamatta in a fight that he was out weighed by more than 15 pounds.

the other loss was against Turpin for the Middleweight title in which was a great win for Turpin, but he avenged it by KO.

Also notice most people say SRR was unbeatable at WW. No welterweight has ever beat.

if he couldn't stand up to the assaults of leonard or hagler what is robinson going to do?

Anyway i have dude at my #3, great boxer for sure but most people back him as the GOAT without really looking at his career, the era, and most of the other(very) worthy candidates.

I wouldnt pick any welter directly over him at his peak. maybe a couple id say would be competitive or a toss up. Actually no, i'd pick Burley over the dude.

obviously you don't know **** about boxing *******. There is a blueprint to beat SRR but there is no blueprint to beat Floyd. 41 have tried 41 have failed.

At 147 SRR has a chance of knocking him out, late. Its 50/50 for me though.
If it goes to the scorecards then il go for Hearns

He was ahead of his time. And there's not a lot of footage of him in his prime which was at welterweight. You can't argue against his record though , and from what existing footage I've seen of him at his best he's pretty damn amazing fighter. He would be hard to beat for anybody.
