Over at the scene,Never knew Froch made the weight that easily!! 4 weeks before his fight weighing a pound under the limit is great. I think that shows his commitment and dedication. I think he is going to put on a real show against Glen Johnson
Froch is a true professional. He never lets himself get out of shape and I seem to remember hearing that he rarely drinks/eats badly.
Ya it would be a bit weird if he was that weight. Surely if he was that size he could dry himself down even lower.
If he weighs 167 2 weeks before a super middleweight fight then he can easy make 160 or less at a weigh in. Either that or he's had a serious case of the shits.
Because the fact that hes on weight most of the time means he doesnt have to shed a load for the weighin and potentially weaken his body. The fact hes not having to shed loads of water and dry his body out mean hes happier, more relaxed and focused. He has a granite chin, one of the reasons for this being that he doesnt abuse his body.
One of Frochs key skills is his stamina, he is an old school 15 round fighter. If he dried out further I don't think he would be the same guy. He's great at his current weight.
The best fighter on the planet and (possibly) the best 168lber as well...:think maybe theres something in this...
Not necessarily. It could simply mean he stays in fighting shape constantly. So rather than making a weight and adding on water etc and being 7lbs heavier come fight night, he trains constantly and only ever has to cut about 2lbs to make weight. He could push himself to cut down further but it would be detrimental. Most injuries in boxing come from lack of cerebral fluids due to people making a push to "make weight". Hopkins always walked around at pretty much fighting weight, so why didn't he drop down to Light-Middle? I suppose because he felt right at middle and would rather do what was right and balanced for his body and be able to make weight 2 days before a fight or 3 weeks before a fight than make a big push to get to a lower weight and then add back forced weight loss in fluids. It will probably be one factor in why he has had such great longevity.
