Im not asking who won the most convincingly. That was RJJ. And i know the calzaghe/Taylor wins were debatable. So no posts about ''robbery'' or whatever.
This is purely in terms of How good Hopkins was at the time of these fights.

I think there is a case to be made for all 3. Some points to consider:

Rjj (1993) he was youngest. However he just had 23 fights at the time. He did however go on to defend his Middleweight title a **** load of times soon after

Taylor was fighting hopkins COMING OFF a record number of defenses. Also he dazzled in beating Tarver straight after at 175 pounds. Possibly feeling slightly drained at 160?

Against Calzaghe he was coming off beating an overblown wright. However by this stage Hopkins was at his most mature and intelligent. maybe not in this particular fight but straight after, destroying Pavlik. He also showed he's far from finished by beating Pascal 2 years after.

    Who gets your vote?

Taylor did, and the Calzaghe fight was not close.

Interesting question....I can eliminate the RJJ 2 fight right off the bat however.

His speed, movement, and sharpness was best in the Taylor fights. Once he moved up, he started to slow down visibily in these departments. Manny Steward even commented on it in the first minute of his fight with Winky.

His stamina may not have been the best though due to having to make 160 though in the Taylor fights. Then again, it looked pretty unspectacular in the Calzaghe fight. I'd like to hear more opinions...I learn towards JT fighting the best B-Hop.

i think itvwas a young hopkins. taylor faced bhop who could only fight in spurts because he was dead at weight and still, i dont give a **** about compubox, barely got hit in the face. the second fight bhop lost for sure but not the first fight. slappy faced a pretty good one too but i think bhop one but thats neither here nor there. i think his legs arent there as they were woth tarver, taylor, ect. i still dont think they are but he wins on sheer technical ability and relflexes

I'd say Jermain Taylor as well. He also gave Hopkins a tougher fight than Calzaghe did IMO. RJJ is the only one I thought really beat Hopkins but Hopkins got better after that fight, so well never know how a rematch would of gone when both were at their best.

I thought Hopkins won the second Taylor fight more convincingly than the first.

I say 1993 Hopkins. After that loss, he didn't lose until his loss to JT. I think Hopkins was affected by the 160 division when he fought Taylor. You saw how good he looked at 175 against Tarver. He was not fighting at his ideal weight.

And i'd also like to add that although RJ clearly beat Hopkins, Hopkins did win about 4 clear rounds. So it wasn't a white wash. Hopkins came to fight and landed some hard, flush shots on RJ.
