This content is protected This content is protected Sorry, I should have worded it better. People condemned the fight and seeing Morales step in with a dangerous puncher, but no one condemned the fighter, Maidana, like their condemning Khan now.
Should people have the same level of expectation for Maidana and Khan though? Khan is the title holder and the one trying to lay claim to being the best in the division.
Fair point. But we need to remind ourselves why Morales is even being considered. Khan does indeed claim to be the best in the division, and he's wanting to prove this by fighting Bradley. But through no fault of his own, that fight has been scuppered at the very last minute, and he's now just looking for a worthwhile (high-earning) fight in the meantime, which won't carry too much risk. With this in consderation, a Morales fight isn't as bad as most are making out.
It needs to be Judah, Morales is way to gone to be fighting someone with speed, he need to stick to out-brawling brawlers.
Khans always trying to fight fighters past their prime so he can boast it on his record. Apart from Maidana which other decent fighter has he fought. Stick him in with PRESTCOTT again if he wants to REALLY prove himself.
It's not really last minute, wasn't the deadline for Bradley 3 weeks ago? Anyway fair play to Khan for looking so hard to get that fight, but he's still got to fight somebody decent instead. He's after taking a softish defense already this year, surely if he takes 2 in a row it's a poor showing. I think you are playing the poor-Khan-gets-a-hard-time card a bit too much. It doesn't always fit, like here. You really need to compare him to somebody else on his level and see what treatment they get, Bradley being the best comparison. Remember when Bradley took a defense against Campbell who was coming up from being Lightweight champion. He gets no credit for taking that fight now. And he was just after taking a tough fight to unify with Holt. Is that not a bigger injustice to Khan not getting credit for (a shot) Barrera?
I hope it's not Morales, If not Bradley or Judah then Guerrero. I don't get why people **** on Khan when Morales is suggested.... I mean who else is out there? Maidana, done that. Bradley/Judah don't want it at the moment. Alexander has got a fight. Morales is probably the best viable fighter for July out of the Light Welter weight division. If Froch was in Khan's position you just know he wouldn't be getting **** on like this.
It would be a step down. Morales is coming off of a loss. Morales is class but it would just be chance for Khan to put a name on his record. It made sense not too long ago but Khan is now established as arguably the best 140 pounder in the world. He needs to be thinking about JMM, Bradley or Judah. A step down would be Guerrero and Maidana.
@ Rico, 606 was a shocking forum (I used to post there ) and I have to confirm, most of us were running down the Amir-Marco matchup with the cynical attitude it deserved :good You were wasted over there mate, glad you jumped ship :good
what a load of bollox, **** khan and gbp no way they take on judah too ****en dangerous, he calls himself a p4p fighter yet he fights paul mc and an ancient morales, khan cannot fool us real boxing fans the way he fools those northern asians......ey laz
when this fight was first mentioned (before morales-maidana), people were saying it's a shocking fight. then, one gritty performance by morales against maidana and now this fight is suddenly ok again. whats it gonna prove? apart from adding a badly faded legend to khan's record, i really hope this fight does'nt get made, someone has to see sense and put a stop to this, but i fear morales will be the target for khan, and amir will talk about the fight as if morales is still the fighter who beat barrera and pacquiao, which he's so obviously not.
Robert Guerrero is, despite the weight class difference, probably the toughest fight being talked about for Khan. If he's looking for competition I think that's the best option. A rematch with Maidana is also prefectly fine, maybe Khan can figure him out better this time and win more comprehensively, maybe one of those shots Maidana unloaded on Khan in the 10th catches him just right this time and puts him out, there's still enough intrigue to make a rematch worthwhile. Morales gave a good account of himself in his last fight but is still massively past prime.
