If Khan faces Morales....huge step down or up?

i think he's a step down in class but a huge money fight. He's only human

 

That's what's worrying. Then again, Khan moves in straight lines more often than Limond, so Morales wouldn't have to wait for fatigue to find opportunities, but he lacks a massive dig, will find it hard to get out of range of Khans fast flurries, will get marked up, totally outgunned and stopped late on in the fight, when his own stamina has depleted. Should be fairly competitive in parts, but Khan will be a far more difficult matchup for Morales, who enjoyed a handspeed advantage over Maidana, as well as being more well-versed in The Sweet Science.

Whilst Morales has not only the latter over Khan, but over most active fighters, what he won't be able to do is beat Khan to the punch. Khan is often reckless,l but as aforementioned, Morales lacks the dig to truly flatten Amir; I imagine if he caught him with an accurate counter shot that hit home, Khan would be able to regroup.

He'd swarm all over Morales, as well as having enough movement to stop Morales, whose feet are now set in stone, ever getting anything going.

 

This kinda sums it up I see it going the same way, I wouldn't say it's a step up or a step down for Khan however a huge money opportunity for him but then again so is the Prescott fight, it wouldn't do Khan much good in terms of credit for fighting Morales, I would prefer this fight if it was fought instead of McCloskey as a keep busy fight but not now.

 

Huge step down and totally pointless.Morales looked decent against Maidana but in reality he is still shot,Maidana loked bad but every fighter can have an off night.Stick Morales in with khan now and it would be a farce,Amir is not Maidana(I like Maidana)he is bigger,more patient and would make Morales look exactly what he is,completely done at world level

 

As a fan of Morales I'd hate to see him lose to a fighter of Khans calibre. Raheem was misguided, Diaz unfortunate, Maidana heroically tight. This would be a drubbing, and would only act as a showcase for Khans blazing handspeed.

Morales deserves another decent stylistic clash if he must fight on IMO. A better physically prepared Morales at say, 145 agaist Matty Hatton would be a decent enough earner I imagine, and wouldn't see El Terrible put under too much stress. Physically bad yes, but boxing wise he didn't look too bad against Alfaro. I wouldn't like to see Morales in too tough, his chin will see him get hurt. Maybe Paulie (hittable featherfist)?

Katsidis at 140 might even be a bridge too far, much more cultured assault than Maidana.

 

Aye stick him in with Khan, a wee vacation to vegas to see the man Morales retire would be good :tired

Sorry for the rushed reply (I'm at work), but....

• It kinda was last minute. Bradley's known about this unofficial 140 tournament for almost a year now, and that at some point he will have to fight a winner of the other semi-final (which was most likely to be Khan at the time). But instead, he waits until May 2011 before deciding he no longer wants to go ahead with the things he promised.
• I don't recall anyone blasting Bradley's fight with Campbell. Rather, the fightwas just not regarded that highly (due to the contentious nature of the result). It was more or less a no-contest. The fight didn't really tell us much. Not that it mattered, because I thought Bradley would have beat him easily anyway.
• I'm not saying Khan should credit for beating Barrera. I'm saying it wasn't that bad of a matchup, considering it was practically right after everyone said his career was finished.
• Bradley gets plenty of love on here.

 

Lol, it was a pretty long time ago, but I don't remember them being any worse than some of the people on here. They certainly weren't as bad as the general.

Morales wouldn't be an awful step for Khan. After Bradley decided to seek out Pacman and turn his back on a fight with Khan where he could have earnt more money.

Maidana rematch would be too soon I think, and the first war they had took alot out of Khan, but he won (just!) and he needs a few 'easier'' fights where he doesn't get the sh1t knocked out of him, boxers can only have so many 'wars' until they start losing capabilities in the ring.

As for other options? Jab Zudah? Apart from that his best bet is to try and see how gets on at welterweight, or a fight with a top lightweight contender.

 

Was just watching Judah's last two fights.

He hurt Matthysse with the same punch he knocked Mabuza out with.

His short left is fugging deadly. Damn, I'll be shocked if Khan fights Judah now.

 

Going into it Barrera-Khan was a very close fight...the closest fight Khan had up to that point. It at 135 and was less than 12 months and one fight after Prescott. I think the match odds were evens at the time...usually Khan is a heavy favourite in his fights. I'll give Khan a lot of credit taking that fight

In hindsight it was a mismatch though.
