Irish Boxing

Thats just about where it is too ardy, same thinking as myself. I consider Lee had an easier run in his last fight while Duddy did impress me with Eastman. Don't get me wrong, Andy Lee fought a beautiful fight and made it easy for himself.....thing is, he looks so damn young! It will be interesting to see how he takes a few punchs. Nice these two are not in the same weight as yet, they don't have to fight each other despite Manny Stewards ramblings.

 

Hey ardy, I don't really think Green wants to fight Mundine again. He was just making noise to attract attention to the fact to Australians that he is the WBA Light heavyweight champ not Mundine. He sticks that up Mundine as well. He would have a chance with Mundine if Mundine has impaired vision, otherwise he gets beat again. I like Green and I hoped he would win last time these two fought, but Mundine is something else and has too many smarts. Green should make money while he has the belt, but don't risk it with Mundine unless he has to.

 

Yeah, Mundine and Calzaghe would be mighty but Mundine would want two good eyes.

Got to agree, Green does look way stronger in his natural weight. Mundine has ability but not enough power to stop Green. Strange that Mundine has so much class for a boxer that never ventured into the amateur ranks. Maybe his da coached him as a kid?.

 

I hadn't noticed this thread till now . Brian Peters has been working wonders for boxing in Ireland , his partnership with Bernard Dunne brought a revival and getting RTE on board helped grab the publics attention .

Some of the ratings RTE have gotten for fights is fantastic(Dunne got over 250,000 after midnight while fighting an Argentinian journeyman in Italy and well over half a million watched his fights with Pickering and Martinez) .

I assume Duddy and Lee have gotten good viewing figures too(otherwise RTE wouldn't have made a deal for an increased number of cards) .

With its popularity here Ireland could easily become one of Europe's hotspots for boxing , only trailing the larger markets of Germany , Italy , France and the UK .

 

RTE2 is awesome, I was able to see Duddy and Lee for the 1st time.

I get the news from RTE daily as well, good to hear the 'talk' while I am playing.

Hello Ardy, is there any news at all of Bernard Dunne?? I have heard nothing since he got blitzed in the 1st round last fight. IMO, it was fluke and got caught cold and didn't get a chance to recover. I really hope he continues with fighting, but I've not heard a word.
