I'm talking about body shots, I always here about how deadly they are and after doing boxing for a year I had never really been hurt atall by a body shot besept for getting very slightly winded once. Tonight in sparring against a much bigger guy he really caught me to teh body and it hurt like hell. Then after that any punch that I took to the body winded me. I can now see how they finish fights.
Good for you, however.. you don't need to box to know whats up with body punches. Just watch guys like Gatti and Maidana cry in pain after liver shots, and you'll know what's what. :smoke
I have never taken a shot to the liver that made me be in real pain, but from the looks of it in the maidana vs khan fight it must hurt as hell.
Never been knocked down on a head shot. Have been down on liver shots multiple times. They suck the air/life out of you when they happen.
Ya, I know, thats what I meant but I had just never felt it before. I haave stopped someone with body shots in sparring once but never the other way around. I gave him a ten count with a shot to the body, then I went straight to the body again with a clean jab and he felt it again and got another count. We were doing conditional sparring tonight in close with body shots only.
Jones hit him with a right hand, that's the ****ed up part. He didn't even hit the liver. Must've broken his rib.

I think it did. Read it somewhere. First time sparring with a bigger guy i got tapped to the body. It wasnt a full punch it was like a tap. Hurt like hell. He was like 20 + Kg heavier then me. Thank god it wasnt a punch. The second time i was hirt i took a punch right to the liver. Took my breathaway and i just had to take a few second of rest or i would have hit the ground.
