Ahah yeah those ropes they have at the gym usually tend to suck. Better buy yourself a good leather rope. It will last a long time. I've always had bad luck with those plastic ones.

My gym is openned 6 times a week, so that's cool. And about the sparring, I know it's tempting to do a lot, but it's good to have a bit of high intensity quality sparring. When you do too much sparring, you tend to tire your body too much, and lose your focus, get bad habbits out of it, and your overall training will suffer.

But that's just my 2 cents, better experience for yourself, and see how much is too much, and what is good for you. At the end of the day, you'll get to know yourself and become a better boxer. :good

I did Kenpo when I was in my 20s and took a kick to the stomach that made snot bubbles come out of my nose and my mouthpiece fly out.

The worst part was that I wanted to get up and kick the guy's ass so badly, but my body just couldn't. I tried to get up like three or four times and felt helpless. It sucks just thinking about it.

Ya, I definately see what you mean about those plastic ones. I was skipping with one a week or two ago and it literally just randomly broke in half while I was skipping.
And all of the other skipping ropes always feel like like they are about to break so I'm almost afraid to use them.
Its kinda like when I really hurt my left hand on a punching bag once and it took me ages to forget about it and have the confidence to start puncing with my left hand again as hard as I could.
I kind of have that with skipping ropes right now.

Ya, losing sucks, especially when you have it on video and watch it every freaken few days even though it just makes you depressed every time you watch it. Unfortunately my first fight which I lost is on video and it haunts me like hell.

Ya, I still dont really either. Its not like I was in massive pain tonight. I just got winded and it was sore for a while but I'm sure it gets alot worse than that.
Its definately a good idea to keep your elbows tucked in.

LOL, my loss was videod on a hd camera so I can clearly see myself fighting like the beginner that I was. My trainer had thrown me in after like a month and a half of training into my first amatuer fight with a guy I had sparred with the week before. That was almost a year ago now and I'm actually good friends with the guy who beat me now from seeing him at some of the boxing events. I was in the same changing as him before both of our last fights.

It's cool you guys became friends. We had a pretty tight group of guys in the Kenpo studio. We'd beat the crap out of each other then grab a beer.

Ya, hes a cool guy. Actually came down to my club once aswell with a couple of guys from his club and I diid some glovework and sparring with him. Even though we get on good I still really wanted to redeem myself once I got to spar him again and I did. This was when I had another 8 months of experience. I kind of avenged that loss in my mind but to everyone from outside of boxing that just watched my fight I havent done that yet.

Never really been hit solid to the liver yet but punches to the centre of my abs (maidana-cayo) have landed clean and completely killed me

I spar at training and have been hit with big shots to the head and body.

Body shot by far was the most painful, took the wind/energy out of me ... could barely recover from it.
