    Hopkins wasnt prime.A year after losing to Roy he was dropped twice and drew with the crappy Mercado.
    Still a very good win for Roy though.

    Hopkins came right back to demolish Mercado and knock him out in 7 rounds. Hopkins getting KD'd twice and drawing with Mercado has nothing to do with being not prime. More to do with the altitude.

    Also, Mercado on that night was on fire, anything but crappy.

    :lol::lol:Altitude

    Prime Hopkins goes to Ecuador and destroys Mercado no matter what the damn altitude is.

    Theres a good chance prime Hopkins beats prime Roy IMO but its a very close fight.

    Its amazing how people try to look for ways to discredit his early win against Hopkins. Hopkins was always a skilled fighter and when he was younger, he had more power, speed and reflexes. RJJ just had amazingky fast hands and reflexes. He could do stuff in the ring than not many people could do. No one could have got away with those right hand leads against Hopkins, but he did......

    Prime Hopkins? Is there another Hopkins we don't know about in another parallel universe dominating middleweight boxing? Just face facts that RJJ in his prime was a special talent. The same way Floyd and Pac are special talents now.

    So your basing it on 1 fight? Maybe Hopkins was on a low after being dominated by RJJ or maybe he took it too easy or maybe something else was affecting him at the time? Sometimes great fighters lose against much lesser opponents for no apparent reason eg. Lewis v Mccall and then come back and dominate......
