    KELL BROOK may go down in history as one of the few boxers to resist the charms of “The Golden Boy” - Oscar De La Hoya.


    Brook, Sheffield’s superstar-in-the-making, is piloting his way towards a world title on the back of 23 straight wins.

    He appeared on De La Hoya’s radar when the unbeaten welterweight started shopping around for a new promoter. The Mexican’s pulling power is rarely resisted. When you have won 10 world titles at six different weight divisions and earned more money than any other fighter in history, people tend to listen to what you say.

    But Brook, while flattered, opted for a company closer to home, Essex family firm, Matchroom Sport. The 25-year-old, who faces South African Lovemore N’Dou in a WBA international title fight at Hillsborough on June 25, has only boxed five times since 2008. And believes his new promoter Eddie Hearn will get him the fights he craves. I’d have liked to been “busier” Brook told The Star.

    “My previous promoter was putting me on big box office shows but I want to be on very regularly. I have been promised by Matchroom that I will be on very regularly.

    “Golden Boy still want to do something they were speaking to Eddie; we had a little chat with them but obviously I need to make my name in England first.

    “Matchroom were a perfect move for me” added Brook, who also accepted De La Hoya’s interested was “a great confidence booster.
    “I was getting lots of promoters coming to see me but obviously Golden Boy is a legend and for him wanting me to fly over and have big meetings in America it was great to hear.”

    As for his N’dou clash next month in north Sheffield, Brook said: “I haven’t boxed at home since I was 18. I am over the moon with that.”

    brook is quality and clearly DLH wants to have him on board for his money making promising future.....

    2 years time, then sign with them kell.

    Brook is sparked as soon as he gets in with someone with a heart beat. Wish pacquiao had have defended his wbo against him.
    Would have been hilarious!

    Goldenboy did sign Witter, labelling him the new Prince Naseem lol.

    How ironic after seeing him against Ndou they cancelled the deal.

    Good move by Brook. Matchroom will give him regular fights on sky and build his profile in the uk. He can find big money legacy fights in the US after he has buillt a Uk fans base!

    Your opinion spud.
    Yet to prove anything above British level.
    We know what he is capable of at British, but we can't honestly know anything more than that having fought the likes of bienias for the wbo inter bull **** title.
    But then again again you're a trainer you probably know better! :good

    Brook is obviously good.... but when people start saying he'll smash this man and that man.... the best people he's beaten are Jennings and Lomax.

    Jennings didn't turn up and Lomax is just a decent domestic fighter.

    This N'Dou fight is perfect for him, it'll test his engine, make him realise that he can't blow everyone away inside three rounds and probably his chin too, even though N'Dou is past it he's still a good test.

    Not sure why anyone in their right minds think he'll get N'Dou out of there.

    elwell is the only one which i sort of shook my head at, but disposed of him pretty effectivly

    ranked higher than he should be of course, i think he is a good fighter though, and should be in the top 30. but top 10 is a bit much.
