Yea I'm not saying it'd be a one sided beatdown or anything, I just think as much as they are downplayed as Pac opponents, they'd both beat him. Ortiz would definitely be a much tougher fight than Clottey was for Pac, though. But I would probably be a much tougher fight than Clottey was.

Let's not forget Ortiz was seconds away from being stopped against Berto, it wasn't a breakout dominant performance - it was a redeeming performance. And it's not like Berto was some P4P guy, either.

ducking manny has derailed his career?

not sure i get that....his career is boxing....but you guys claim he aint fighting ....so what exactly has derailed his career? sounds more like he chose to end it...and despite that...hes talked about daily...everywhere...dunno whats been derailed....

what if floyd takes an ortiz fight with the premise that pac is next....but after the ortiz fight...things fall apart again?....then what are we left with.....probably some of us floyd fans wondering if he ever did have the intention of fighting manny and he duped us.....

but the guy isnt coming back unless hes trying to get the manny fight....hes not out here collecting checks until that fight can be made...because he knows there isnt a fight left for him to prove anything to boxing fans...thats worth a damn to him....pac on the other hand is out here taking pretty much garbage fights....to make money...when the same holds true...there isnt really a fight, outside of floyd, that makes any sense or is worth a damn....except for sergio...and we all know that aint happenin

floyds career from here on out, starts and ends, with pac(or a tuneup)....if floyd had already fought and beaten pac....i doubt wed have seen him in the ring again...same holds for the future...if he fights and beats him u prob wont see him in the ring again...

Good old Floyd, diverting the attention back to himself with a pointless fight. I'm not a particularly big fan of Pacquiao or Mayweather, but why on Earth is he fighting Ortiz? Predictable fight against a mentally fragile, one dimensional southpaw who has been exposed by a slick boxer before and has been stopped. Unless this is a stepping stone fight for Pacquiao (which it won't be) then there's not much point. :rasta

I said years. To be more precise since hatton. Since hatton floyd has retired for two years, beaten a lightweight and beaten a man who whilst top ranked, hindsight shows he was clearly shot.

Ortiz now would be a better victory than floyd had over jmm or mosley.

As for my prediction, last time floyd fought an aggressive prime pressure fighter his size was castillo.

if floyd fought ortiz without pac being next.....wed have a problem.....now....we might never know the truth....if floyd actually had the intention to make the pac fight after ortiz or not....but if he fought ortiz and then didnt fight pac....i would prob be pretty angry with floyd....dunno if i could give him the benefit of the doubt

ya...i know his haters wanna pick a hole in his game....and remind us about castillo....problem is....floyd now isnt the same guy that was in the ring with castillo....hes grown as a fighter...his overall ring iq and generalship is different and has grown alot....if you put floyds current boxing acumen, in the body of the kid that fought castillo, floyd would have prob dominated that castillo

    You wanna tall leftovers????

    De La Hoya
    Hatton
    Marquez
    Mosley

All fighters Floyd battered and Pacquiao apparently "dismantled"

I disagree. I think floyd was at his best from 130-135. He's not as good as he was back then, no way.

He's been in a comfort zone since battering hatton and he hasn't been tested apart from 2 punches and old man managed to land. Ortiz would fight him harder than anyone has in years.

you're entitled to an opinion....i disagree though

floyd is a much different fighter...and is much better at controlling a fight without having to throw.....he nullifies peoples weapons and has them hesitant to throw at him....i think floyd has grown as a fighter alot since then....hes in a comfort zone...because he knows exactly how to get there.....he knows how to put himself in one....on his terms

ortiz would be no different...floyd controlling distance....popping ortiz with accurate shots....after awhile young victor would be hesitant about coming forward....and its all over from there

If floyd had grown as much as you say he'd have fought quality opposition between castillo and baldomir. If he was as good as you say he'd have fought the elite welterweights instead of retiring after hatton.

I think he's somewhat unproven in the current welterweight picture and see no reason to view him as an elite fighter.
