Why is Zab Judah being asked to take short money?

With multiple world titles on his resume, current IBF Jr welterweight champ Zab "Super Judah" is being asked to take short money to fight Amir Khan. The big question here is, why? Judah has more than paid his due's in the sport of boxing. Judah has also fought the much stiffer opposition over a much longer and more fruitful career. Don't get me wrong, Amir Khan is a good young fighter but does he deserve more money than a proven warrior who has already racked up world titles, and currently holds one himself?

Judah gave Floyd Mayweather Jr fits when the two fought back in 2006, and he also is the guy that marched into in St Louis in a rematch and snatched the title from local favorite Cory Spinks.

As negotiations seem to have hit a snag for Judah to fight Khan, the new name being talked about is Timothy Bradley. While Bradley is a proven warrior in his own rights, does he sell more tickets than Zab Judah? The answer to that is a big fat NO. Judah is twice the name that Bradley is. No knock at Bradley here, he just hasn't been at the A level as long as Judah has been.

When you look at Judah's last performance, he shined and knocked out Kaizer Mabuza in the 7th round. Timothy Bradley was victorious in his last performance as well, but the fight was a snooze fest that didn't even come close to living up to the hype.

Judah should get 50/50 split money Vs. Khan. Let's get real here and get this fight done.

Because Khan will lowball everyone and then talk about how all the names just don't want to get in the ring with him. Like Paul Williams, build a rep talking about how no one will fight him.

Judah is gatekeeper level. Nothing more. His best years are far behind him. He should be happy with what he can get at this point.

I think the fine print on the article was cut off "This article was written and paid for by the People for Zab Judah. Sponsered by Zab Judah"

Is it because he has some losses ? His name alone sells the fight ..Not right by Khan ...

Good post. Judah is over the hill, he is like a cat with 9 lives. Jab blew his prime years being a punk. If Judah doesn't like the money, don't take the fight and go fade away.

Bradley's head is twice the size of Khan's. He therefore deserves twice as much money.

Yeah, as a Khan nuthugger, I still think it should be 50/50. However, I don't for one second believe that Khan himself was the one that decided otherwise, I really, really don't like the people he has around him.

Judah's lucky to be in the mix. He has no bargaining room.

i would be more inclined to say that Bradley is a bigger name in the UK than judah actually, purely because he came over here and beat Junior Witter. As a brit, I know Judah has the greater fan base and draw, especially in the US. Thing is though, isn't Khan with golden boy? oscar and shaefer are greeeeeeedy

Judah should be happy with 40%, Bradley was 50-50.

Judah's past has nothing to do with how much he should get. Who's gonna bring in the money at the gate and on the PPV? Not Judah.

Who's gonna be the favourite come fight night?

khan is probably the bigger draw now and is definitely the bigger star now

Khan has also held his belt longer and has a defense

Judah is being brought in as the opponent for Khan not the other way around
