Round 4

Konecny has his forehead brushed with a jab and right hand as Bayram lingers just at arm's length. Bayram isn't making himself as difficult to find. Konecny is still not opening up much, watching very carefully and being very selective with his shots. Leaping hook to the cheekbone by Konecny. Bayram is knocked off balance almost every time Konecny throws with power, whether blocked or not. Bayram tries to hold him in place with a jab but Konecny disobliges, ducking forward quickly to hook the body and then slapping up high with a right hand to the throat. Hard left and right hooks to the body by Konecny. Bayram misses a slow pawing 1-2 as Konecny ducks. Konecny lets his hands go a bit and completely outpunches Bayram in the exchange.

They touch gloves and Bayram looks discouraged on his way back to his corner.

Round 5

Bayram is pushing his jab and now banking on a can-opener right hand, which he's having difficulty landing on the small moving target with the impenetrable leather shield. Konecny partially lands one of his high whipping hooks early but slows his output down as he pursues Bayram in first gear. Konecny is ducking the ever-slower jabs of Bayram now, no longer having to let them just bounce off his guard. Bayram is trying to put right hands behind almost every single one and just isn't touching Konecny. Bayram is put up against the ropes with body shots. Bayram wriggles free and Konecny catches him again in the middle of the ring.

Round 6

Bayram is literally flicking his jab now, not putting forth any serious effort to land with it or use it as a range finder. His body language and the limpness of the jab both indicate "leave me alone". Konecny is unwilling to comply. Konecny hooks hard at the body and actually gets Bayram to stupidly duck down in anticipation (maybe thinking he could take it on his shoulder instead of his welted up midsection?) and it very nearly catches him on the temple. Konecny is staying right on top of him, blocking all his weak jabs and unleashing furious hell on his ribcage whenever he's in range. Bayram is tucking his elbows down as much as he can while still protecting his face when Konecny explodes offensively. Bayram takes a left hook to the body and two uppercuts from beneath his gloves all unanswered. Finally Bayram starts to stand and trade with him just a second before the bell. Again, Konecny gives him an approving pat on the shoulder.

Round 7

Bayram looks to have regained a bit of focus and resolve and actually jabs purposefully now while circling. Konecny seems a bit surprised and stays shelled up as Bayram goes to work, throwing lots of long shots up into his guard and reaching down with a few body shots of his own. Konecny waits until the Frenchman has finished his assault and charges in low, hooking hard. Bayram just barely slips a high chopping 1-2. Bayram goes to jab with Konecny and is hit first, reeling. Combo upstairs and down by Konecny. Bayram is trying to duck punches up close and is just moving into their path. Hard hooks to the body by Konecny. Now a wild flurry, just chopping very high with both arms extended straight and missing about 3-4 times. That was very poor. Bayram barely had to do anything to dodge them.

Still, Konecny round.

Round 8

Bayram jabs like he's playfully snapping a towel at someone in the gymnasium locker room. That isn't going to keep Konecny off of him - and doesn't. Konecny is very patient and wasting no energy, but still out-punching Bayram by a good margin with his quick hooks up close. Konecny lands one pair to the sternum and to the left flank before Bayram can even start to throw a lazy jab (easily ducked on the way out). Konecny is putting together longer combinations now. Bayram almost gets caught with a sleep-inducing left hook to the jaw, that nearly pulls Konecny around like a strong wind through a weathervane.

This is as economical a beatdown as I've seen handed out recently.

 

Konecny punches himself repeatedly in the head coming off his stool to pump himself up for the 9th round.

 

Round 9

Konecny is getting low, ducking below Bayram's waist and well out of the atmosphere of his lazy jab. Bayram is back to attempts at a big right hand, with and without the jab in front of it, but is again only hurt by this tactic as Konecny has more and more target available for his hooking combos. Konecny landing plenty, mostly to the body. Bayram is actually throwing his right hand hard, but just getting glove with it. Konecny drives him into a corner with a hard volley.

Round 10

They touch gloves (Bayram reluctantly, and with his back half turned to his opponent).

Bayram throws a hard 1-2, then another, and lands a left hook to the body. OOH, right hand to the face by Bayram - maybe the first time he's landed cleanly with it. Bayram seems to be making his last (well, first) stand. Lots of jabs from Bayram, stiffer than his usual patter. Konecny continues to defend well, ducking and blocking. Konecny leans in and shoves Bayram back across the ring. Bayram lands a jab/uppercut above and below the guard. Now Bayram crooks his right elbow and throws some scimitar overhands. They crash into the back of Konecny's neck. Konecny gets up close and finds his hard left hook, getting Bayram to shrimp up a bit in retreat. Hooking combo by Konecny now, putting Bayram on the ropes. Bayram resumes jabbing and stands his ground.

Eh, I'll give Hussein that one.

99-91 Konecny

 

Round 11

Bayram has lost his mojo, pawing ineffectively with his jab and right now. Konecny rapidly circles him like a shark, ducking and weaving without getting touched. Hard jab by Konecny pushes the front of Bayram's chin into his chest. Chopping tomahawk jabs by Konecny on the inside now, pulling the left straight back into his guard and not allowing Bayram any offense. Konecny is just flashing hard underhand hook combos at him and remaining unscathed while right in front of him. Bayram is discouraged and not even bothering to throw much. A couple of jabs and rights from Bayram predictably float through the air over Konecny's back. Konecny lures Bayram to the ropes, backing up and blocking. Konecny drops his hands and walks in a wide circle around Bayram, looking bored. Now a hard hook stepping in. Clinch (Bayram with Konecny in a headlock).

Round 12

One more touch of gloves. Bayram starts to hook to the body, trying to give Konecny a taste of his own medicine. Konecny just moves out of the pocket and then starts to slip jabs with his hands low, showing off a little. Hard up-jab by Konecny to nail his way inside and then some more of those clipping hooks to the middle of Bayram's beanpole. Konecny is landing hard hooking combos and dodging punches without his signature guard up now, just keeping his left hand at his hip and rolling away from Bayram's counter jabs on the inside. Leaping left hook by Konecny!!! Bayram staggered! Konecny might be gearing up for the grand finale. Constant pressure. Hard shots! Bayram shakes them off, and gets off the ropes as Konecny backs off to reload his power. Another hard hook lands, to the body. Leaping jab to the eye by Konecny. Bayram tries an uppercut but is totally gassed and misses badly. Konecny hooks away at him with lefts and rights as Bayram ducks forward and takes them on the sides of his breastbones.
