10-9 Wright. Smedley is fighting with his hands down but his reflexes are nowhere near good enough. Wright having some success with the jab earlier on.
His reflexes aren't bad, the main problem is he just isn't doing anything to discourage Wright. His record suggests that he doesn't have enough power and the first round and a bit shows that he struggles to get any clean punches out there. Horse out.
Smedley looks shocking. Buying into every feint Wright throws so I can see Wright timing his movements sooner rather than later.
Round 2: Wright the aggressor from the start of the second with Smedley not throwing much at all. Smedley's looking to counter Wright but he is keeping it simple stepping in with the jab and not giving him time to counter. Smedley isn't throwing or landing enough to take these rounds. 20-18 Wright.
The problem with what Smedley's doing here is its all very well but...you have to have some substance under all that bluffing. And there isn't any? Nigel Wright, is not looking spectacular against this jerky unorthodox style, but he still looks far more physically imposing, and he's just doing the basics well and consistency is winning him the rounds. Just a simple jab is winning it.
