No doubt!! I loved the "Truth" if he only had a little better beard man he could have been something, just couldn't get away from those damn left hooks lol.. And yes Cooney would muscle him and be on him as well as the Bonecrusher!! Berbick was so strong and such an awkward mess to fight he would give pretty much anyone a tussle, and the younger Berbick was an absolute hulking monster!! Back to the Truth for a second, in the Holmes fight Larry still has it but is slipping but he and the truth are such great technicians and very smart boxers, they both had those pretty jabs I really enjoy this fight for the pure science of it, that and its damn close and intriguing..

I merely listed some accomplishments. But if quality of competition has no bearing, care to list the heavyweights that trump him in said categories?

I have Louis and Ali ahead of him. Occasionally I'll have Holmes and Marciano ahead as well - but never lower than #5.

Combination of his head to head abilities and his legacy.

yep, great Heavyweight fight as was Holmes vs Bonecrusher. i often feel Lewis chose Britain to start his career so as he would not have to tussle with Berbick as he never lived in Britain he has always lived in Canada since he was a youth and still lives their today.

Yeah I am huge fan of all of those Holmes fights, the vast majority of them are very compelling!! Holmes seemed to just do enough down the stretch of his career (though I know many feel as though he lost a couple of those close ones) to pull out the wins.. Until Spinks finally got him, a shame that had he won he would have equaled the 49-0 of the Rock, though I will take his 20 title defenses and say to me that's more impressive then Rocky's 49-0... Holmes beat Spinks in the rematch to which he was robbed of so lets assume he gets the nod there does he maybe make even another defense of that title..?? I know that all went down either during or right before that whole "Heavyweight Tourney" HBO had so had Holmes won I am guessing he would have maybe fought Tucker had he stuck to the script.. I know Spinks opted for Tangsted and then we got Douglas-Tucker.. Could the old man have beaten Tucker at that point hmm....??

H2H here is who beats him at their best, Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Liston, Ali, Frazier, Holmes, Tyson at his best. Here is who gives him a good run for his Money and possibly beat him at their best, Tunney, Baer if hes right, Walcott, Charles, Patterson, Holyfield, Bowe if he's right. Also, was he actually sedated before a fight? Thats a new 1 on me. If so, he had better take 2 before taking on any in my 1st list. EDIT: It was Tyson and Golata who were supposedly sedated before their fight. Two crushing victories.

Holmes v Tucker would have made for a great fight and it's difficult to say who would win..it's a shame today's heavyweight division is so shameful compared to the 1980s... we had some very good journeymen fighters like Bert Cooper, Quick`Tillis, David Bey, Bernado Mercado, Jesse Ferguson & Mike`Bounty`Hunter to name but a few.

Feel free to give your input. The man recently passed away, he deserves good representation.

I'm rating them on accomplishments mostly. Besides that, I don't really have any idea what you're talking about.

Lewis accomplishments are a disputed win over old Holyfield a win over the shell of Mike Tyson & a fortunate win over Vitali.. his WBC defences in the 1990s are meaningless as Foreman, Holyfield, Moorer & Tyson all ruled the roost during that period with Lewis thought of as nothing but a KO for those guys after his loss to McCall.. Throw in Lewis being stripped of all belts for refusing to fight the No1 contenders and it makes for grim reading compared to other champions. Lewis was never dominant not even after his debatable victory in his rematch with old Holyfield.

Yes. What Im talking about is Lewis isnt top 10. Top 15, perhaps. Top 20, yes. Ive already named people whom I think wouldve beaten Lewis or at the least given him all he could handle earlier. These Men are now or were at one time top 10 fighters.

I never said Quarry was slick.
He was a smaller guy who often relied on skills and counter-punching though.

Witherspoon was a pretty hard hitter, by any reckoning. More so than a Botha. More so than a Tucker.

Yeah, perhaps that's where you're going wrong.

    :good

Weaver knocked out John Tate, Gerrie Coetzee and Carl Williams ..... in fact, he was first man to KO them, and they were all highly-rated at the time.

To me that's a ridiculous methodology.
You've just picked a load of names on both sides, many more for Lewis, and called them "punchers".

Of course I'm not going to get deeper into your method of debate by picking "the likes of Evangelista ... ", LeDoux etc.
I already think it's utterly stupid calling Carl Williams and Frans Botha and Rahman, Golota, Tony Tucker and Roy Williams a special category "punchers".
THAT's my argument, and I hope you will understand it.

If you're going to create a select group of "punchers" at least choose ones that you think have outstanding punching power.
You don't even seem convinced of that yourself, which makes you whole argument very empty, IMO.

I do appreciate the effort though. :good

Yeah but he decided to take on the much tougher Ruddock who also resided in Canada, before being ducked by Bowe.
