No, come on now Marquez will be at the same weight he fought Floyd at, so how does this make for a good fight? honestly he does not carry his speed or power with him and he is more flat footed... its just not a good fight IMO. Marquez is also showing that he is slowing down.. So to me its pointless to have a third bout when Pacquiao beat him twice.
Actually, Floyd fought Marquez at the full WW limit, not a catchweight like Pacquiao is doing. but yea, I agree that this fight is not that hot
Still even though Floyd had extra weight so did Marquez, he was still at 143 or some ****, thats not his weight class and it showed. regardless what Floyd weighed on fight night and or for the weigh in. What alot of you dont understand is that 2 pounds example Floyd comming in over their contracted agreement that doesnt really make a big difference at the higher weights. The amateurs have nearly a 10 pound spread in the welter weight divison, meaning you weigh in at 150, your opponent can come into the fight at 159... so if the amateurs seem to have no problem with that kind of difference in weight, why do the pros?
well the idea was that Mayweather was significantly bigger than Marquez and would have to sweat a little bit to make the 144lb limit, thus evening out the playing field at least a little. But he did no such thing and instead paid Marquez so that he could weigh above the agreed catchweight. Pacquiao won't have to sweat to make 144 but that's only because he himself is not that much bigger than Marquez, even though his body has had the time to adjust to the higher weight while JMM's hasn't.
This is the problem 144 is not a good weight for Marquez, we know Manny can make that and perform at that weight easily, but JMM simply can not carry the extra weight. So explain how this is a good match at 144?
actually I said that the fight is not that hot. It's a lose-lose situation for Pacquiao. But it's foolish to believe that Pac doesn't has the same size advantage on JMM that Floyd did. That's simply not the case. Floyd has a bigger size advantage on Pac than Pac has on Marquez. I can see where Pac is coming from wanting this fight at 144 instead of 135 or 140. He's been training a certain way to take on these bigger guys and he would have to switch up his whole training regiment to fight JMM at a lower weight and then when he fights another big guy after that he would have to switch up his whole training regiment all over again. Although it would be better for Pac's legacy to fight JMM at 135 for the lineal title, in the long run he would probably pay dearly for it. I still wish he had done it.
its not about him having the same size advantage that Floyd had, its about the fact that Marquez can not bring the goods with him up to this higher weight...
all Marquez needs to bring is the same goods that he brings at 135, as if he were fighting at 135, but without cutting weight to make the weight.
So you think Ortiz(TKO by Maidana) has a chance against Pacquiao? As I have told many times, Ortiz(they sparred) told that he was awed by a feather weight Pac power, And now that pac is stronger he told Pac is just too strong for him. But anyway I don't mind seeing Pac vs Ortiz.
I wonder how much a winner-takes-all purse (maybe 90/10 split) would change the landscape of Prize fighting? It might very well end all this "payday" fight nonsense.
I agree considering he just beat the man in question. I know thats not always the way it works but in this case I think it applies.
it does when you consider that Manny just had his easy fight, he has been picking and choosing lately and then demanding catchweights. How is it NOT okay for Floyd to demand testing, yet Manny is allowed to demand catch weights? he doesnt run the commission.
