Bernard does nothing special in terms of his style. It's just that his mind and technical skills combined make him great. But there is nothing unorthodox about his style. He's just a master of the "sweet science". Floyd has also mastered the sport but he isn't a "technical" fighter. His style is very unorthodox and is dependent heavily on natural talent to succeed.

this. If your talking about textbook skills, Hopkins or even Toney would get the vote, imo. Floyd is the most talented.

    What are you talking about?

Floyd knows how to move his head, parry shots, cover up and clinch when hurt, and doesn't need to rely much on his legs for defense. Being economical in your movement is stressed in the textbook, just look at Joe Louis.

His shoulder roll is an old school technique. He's one of the best inside fighters of our era.

He usually has his balance after throwing a punch and is in position to strike again or defend. This isn't no Roy Jones who threw a wild right hand and only managed to get away with it due to his godly speed, that's the **** that no boxing trainer would want his amateur to do.

$ can feint well and set up with the jab to get into position. That 1-2 combination he kept using in hist most recent fight is the most basic combo, and the first combo anyone new to boxing is taught.

Floyd is being smart by utilizing his physical gifts by doing leaping hooks and pull counters, but those aren't the only things he can do. He successfully made do without those moves in the Judah and Hatton fights.
