I was on my way up to have a word with young Quinn after his win- waiting on the lift- ping one doors open a host of scantly clad ladies pop out... ping two instants later doors open Cronan, non pin stripped pops out with Lakatos. Paddy quickly tells us he is workign the corner- ready to go to work on any cut... before turning to one young lady and informing her in not so may words he would go to work on her low cut top after the win. Poor paddy wasnt called into action in either regard as his fighter didnt make it to the second bell and he came home straight after the fight with me and David Walsh

 

James DeGale eyeing Kenny Anderson or Brian Magee



James DeGale says if he doesn't get a rematch with George Groves he wants an American - or Brian Magee. DeGale lost his British super-middleweight title to Groves last weekend at the 02 Arena.

The majority decision was a controversial one, and DeGale demanded an immediate return.

But Groves has so far been reluctant to grant him his wish.

"It was a close fight, a controversial fight, and I thought I won it," said DeGale.

"But there's no point crying over spilt milk, you have to get up, dust yourself off and keep going. Whatever isn't the breaking of me is the making of me.

"I don't think he wants a rematch, because he knows what will happen. If I started faster I'd have probably had him (knocked) out.

"I want an American name that someone knows, or Brian Magee who fought for a world title and is European champion, or Kenny Anderson, who had Groves out and only has himself to blame for losing."

Meanwhile Groves has hinted that he could meet DeGale again - but when they have both had more fights.

es predict a rematch in the future, where he plans to put a serious hurt on DeGale.

"To use DeGale's own words, now I'm moving on to bigger and better things," he told The Times.

"At the moment the general feedback I'm getting from people is that I shouldn't give him a rematch.

"But certainly he'll make a return, our paths will cross again – and next time I'll ruin him."

 

You could tell that Lakatos benefited from having that calm, reassuring presence in his corner. Like a re-incarnation of Eddie Futch :good

haha jonny. Great story.reminds me of Klit vs Chagaev in germany. Myself, d missus, and ninebar ( lost to this thread ) went to the pub. Paddy went to bed. Next morning the 3 of us telling stories bout our night. Find out then Paddy spent all night gettin on with the Germans. Wasnt long abandoning us in the hope of fanny. I know ur reading pinstripe

 

McDonagh and McLaughlin win box-offs

Michael McDonagh and Willie McLaughlin claimed the lightweight and welterweight places on the Ireland team for next month's European Elite Championships following close wins over the St Michael's Athy pair of David Oliver Joyce and John Joe Joyce in Saturday morning's box-off finals at the National Stadium.

McDonagh, from the St Mary's BC in Dublin, beat David Oliver Joyce 10-9 - in a repeat of the 2011 Elite lightweight final which McDonagh won.

And McLaughlin, who boxes out of the Illies GG club in Donegal, had one point to spare over John Joe Joyce, the Donegal man winning 9-8 in the welterweight class.


The IABA used the box-offs to decided the 60kg and 69kg places on the Ireland team for the 2011 European Elite Championships which begin in Ankara, Turkey, on 14 June.

The ten-man Ireland squad will travel to Sheffield tomorrow for a training camp with Great Britain, Poland and Estonia. The squad will return home on 5 June before travelling to Ankara on 11 June.

Ireland claimed five medals, one gold, one silver and three bronze at the 2010 European Elite Championships in Moscow, finishing second in the medals table behind Russia.

Meanwhile, this morning's senior cadet box-off, between David Kennedy and Richie McDonagh, also went all the way down to the wire. Kennedy had his hand raised in victory on a razor thin 36-35 countback following a 7-7 draw.

Id say it will be an 85% capacity,
Can see the tickets selling majorly fast next week after the Murray fight,
Think people are saving their few bob for that, buit id say once thats over, the tickets (well whats left of them) will fly out
