When pac jumped from lw to defeat hoya at ww, does anyone have the ring top ten ww rankings from that time?

Because i'd assumed if he beat ortiz he'd have cleaned up the division so I wanted to check if anyone else was significantly ranked that i'd forgotten about.

Maybe zavek would be argued also but i'd say if he beats ortiz he'd cleaned house.

Pac has already cleaned out the division (cotto, margo, clottey and mosley were the clear best, outside of mayweather). Ortiz has one fight at welter against an unproven champ, and coming off mediocre performances at 140. He is one for the future, and still has a lot to prove. Pac beating him now would be just to claim the ring belt, which he should have anyway. Kind of ridiculous he has to beat Ortiz for it

Beating ortiz establishes linearity. He's young, prime and coming off a career best performance. He's the highest ranked welterweight in the world not named pac.

Looking at that list, berto went on to beat quintana and collazo, i'd say he was the only man left standing until ortiz beat him meaning he's now the only man left standing.

I wish after marquez pac fought ortiz, either him or bradley if he is able to unify 140, but since bradley is going to toprank probably, I think he will be next. I have a feeling ortiz wll fight mayweather.

I agree, MW probably will fight Ortiz and pac vs bradley.

-So Pacquiao never faced the nr one guy in the division and only holds a belt. Wish he would have faced the best guy out there. Maybe be a lineal champion in 5 divisions now.

    Damn....Pac cleaned up real good.

Only criticism is the catch weight bull****.

to me it seems that the catchweights were only to test the waters at a new division, they probably though 135/140 was his limit and after the hatton fight wanted cotto, but since cotto was a solid ww champ and Oscar proved to be so affected by the weight that people put question marks at how good pac really was at welter. he was 140 champ when he went up to fight cotto who was a 147 champ and they met at 145(pointless in hindsight since pac probably would have beaten him at 147 easily as well) then they wanted margarito at 147 but since he could no longer make it they did it at 150 ( this should have never been for a title, i agree on that, but if pac eventually moves up and defeats a champ or good boxer at 154 to me he has proven to be worthy of the belt, obviously 147 is his limit because he cant even make the ww limit.
The catchweight for his next fight is for marquez so that benefits marquez mostly.
Ortiz fought berto at 145 catchweight but nobody complains about that one, to me cotto could have been at 147, margarito at either 154 or not for a belt, then it would be great.
